Salmo 76

76 Dios es conocido en Judá(A);
(Selah)
¶Resplandeciente eres,
Más majestuoso que los montes de caza.
Fueron despojados los fuertes de corazón(G);
Jinete y caballo(I) cayeron en profundo sueño.
Tú, solo Tú, has de ser temido(J);
¶Hiciste oír juicio desde los cielos(L);
(Selah)
10 Pues el furor del hombre te alabará(O);
Con un residuo de furor te ceñirás.
11 ¶Hagan votos ustedes al Señor su Dios, y cúmplanlos(P);
12 Él cortará el espíritu de los príncipes;

76 Dios es conocido en Judá;
    su nombre es exaltado en Israel.
En Salén se halla su santuario;
    en Sión está su morada.
Allí hizo pedazos las centelleantes saetas,
    los escudos, las espadas, las armas de guerra. Selah

Estás rodeado de esplendor;
    eres más imponente que las montañas de caza.[a]
Los valientes yacen ahora despojados;
    han caído en el sopor de la muerte.
Ninguno de esos hombres de guerra
    volverá a levantar sus manos.
Cuando tú, Dios de Jacob, los reprendiste,
    jinetes y corceles quedaron aturdidos.

Tú, y solo tú, eres de temer.
    ¿Quién puede hacerte frente cuando se enciende tu enojo?
Desde el cielo diste a conocer tu veredicto;
    la tierra, temerosa, guardó silencio

Psalm 76[a]

For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm of Asaph. A song.

God is renowned in Judah;
    in Israel his name is great.(A)
His tent is in Salem,(B)
    his dwelling place in Zion.(C)
There he broke the flashing arrows,(D)
    the shields and the swords, the weapons of war.[b](E)

You are radiant with light,(F)
    more majestic than mountains rich with game.
The valiant(G) lie plundered,
    they sleep their last sleep;(H)
not one of the warriors
    can lift his hands.
At your rebuke,(I) God of Jacob,
    both horse and chariot(J) lie still.

It is you alone who are to be feared.(K)
    Who can stand(L) before you when you are angry?(M)
From heaven you pronounced judgment,
    and the land feared(N) and was quiet—
when you, God, rose up to judge,(O)
    to save all the afflicted(P) of the land.
10 Surely your wrath against mankind brings you praise,(Q)
    and the survivors of your wrath are restrained.[c]

11 Make vows to the Lord your God and fulfill them;(R)
    let all the neighboring lands
    bring gifts(S) to the One to be feared.
12 He breaks the spirit of rulers;
    he is feared by the kings of the earth.

  2. Psalm 76:3 The Hebrew has Selah (a word of uncertain meaning) here and at the end of verse 9.
  3. Psalm 76:10 Or Surely the wrath of mankind brings you praise, / and with the remainder of wrath you arm yourself

76 In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.

There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.

Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.

The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.

At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.

Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?

Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,

When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.

10 Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.

11 Vow, and pay unto the Lord your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.

12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.
