LIBRO TERCERO
El fin de los malos en contraste con el de los justos
Salmo de Asaf.
73 Ciertamente Dios es bueno para con Israel(A),
para con los puros de corazón(B).
2 En cuanto a mí, mis pies estuvieron a punto de tropezar,
casi resbalaron[a] mis pasos(C).
3 Porque tuve envidia de los arrogantes(D),
al ver la prosperidad de los impíos(E).
4 Porque no hay dolores en su muerte,
y su cuerpo es robusto[b].
5 No sufren penalidades(F) como los mortales[c],
ni son azotados como[d] los demás hombres(G).
6 Por tanto, el orgullo es su collar(H);
el manto de la violencia los cubre(I).
7 Los ojos se les saltan de gordura(J);
se desborda su corazón con sus antojos[e].
8 Se mofan(K), y con maldad hablan de opresión;
hablan(L) desde su encumbrada posición[f].
9 Contra[g] el cielo han puesto su boca(M),
y su lengua se pasea por la tierra.
10 Por eso el pueblo de Dios[h] vuelve a este lugar,
y beben[i] las aguas de la abundancia(N).
11 Y dicen: ¿Cómo lo sabe Dios(O)?
¿Y hay conocimiento en el Altísimo?
12 He aquí, estos son los impíos,
y, siempre desahogados(P), han aumentado sus riquezas(Q).
13 Ciertamente en vano he guardado puro[j] mi corazón(R)
y lavado mis manos[k] en inocencia(S);
14 pues he sido azotado todo el día(T)
y castigado[l] cada mañana(U).
15 Si yo hubiera dicho: Así hablaré,
he aquí, habría traicionado a la generación de tus hijos[m](V).
16 Cuando pensaba, tratando de[n] entender esto(W),
fue difícil para mí[o],
17 hasta que entré en el santuario[p] de Dios(X);
entonces comprendí el fin de ellos(Y).
18 Ciertamente tú los pones en lugares resbaladizos(Z);
los arrojas a la destrucción[q](AA).
19 ¡Cómo son destruidos[r] en un momento(AB)!
Son totalmente consumidos por terrores repentinos(AC).
20 Como un sueño del que despierta(AD),
oh Señor, cuando te levantes(AE), despreciarás su apariencia[s](AF).
21 Cuando mi corazón se llenó de amargura(AG),
y en mi interior[t] sentía punzadas(AH),
22 entonces era yo torpe y sin entendimiento(AI);
era como una bestia[u](AJ) delante de ti[v].
23 Sin embargo, yo siempre estoy contigo;
tú me has tomado de la mano derecha(AK).
24 Con tu consejo me guiarás(AL),
y después me recibirás en gloria[w](AM).
25 ¿A quién tengo yo en los cielos(AN), sino a ti?
Y fuera de ti[x], nada deseo en la tierra.
26 Mi carne y mi corazón pueden desfallecer(AO),
pero Dios es la fortaleza[y] de mi corazón y mi porción para siempre(AP).
27 Porque he aquí, los que están lejos de ti perecerán(AQ);
tú has destruido[z] a todos los que te son infieles[aa](AR).
28 Mas para mí, estar cerca de Dios es mi bien(AS);
en Dios[ab] el Señor he puesto mi refugio(AT),
para contar todas tus obras(AU).

73 (1b) ¡Qué bueno es Dios con Israel,
con los de limpio corazón!
2 Un poco más, y yo hubiera caído;
mis pies casi resbalaron.
3 Pues tuve envidia al ver cómo prosperan
los orgullosos y malvados.
4 A ellos no les preocupa la muerte,
pues están llenos de salud;
5 no han sufrido las penas humanas
ni han estado en apuros como los demás.
6 Por eso el orgullo es su collar
y la violencia su vestido;
7 están tan gordos que los ojos se les saltan,
y son demasiadas sus malas intenciones.
8 Con burla, orgullo y descaro,
amenazan hacer maldad y violencia;
9 atacan al cielo con sus labios
y recorren la tierra con su lengua.
10 Por eso la gente los alaba
y no encuentra ninguna falta en ellos.
11 Preguntan: «¿Acaso Dios va a saberlo?
¿Acaso se dará cuenta el Altísimo?»
12 ¡Miren a estos malvados!
Con toda tranquilidad aumentan sus riquezas.
13 ¡De nada me sirve tener limpio el corazón
y limpiarme las manos de toda maldad!
14 Pues a todas horas recibo golpes,
y soy castigado todas las mañanas.
15 Si yo hubiera pensado como ellos,
habría traicionado a tus hijos.
16 Traté de comprender esto,
pero me fue muy difícil.
17 Sólo cuando entré en el santuario de Dios
comprendí a dónde van ellos a parar:
18 los has puesto en lugar resbaladizo
y los empujas a la ruina.
19 ¡En un momento quedarán destruidos!
¡El miedo acabará con ellos!
20 Cuando tú, Señor, te levantes,
como cuando uno despierta de un sueño,
despreciarás su falsa apariencia.
21 Yo estuve lleno de amargura
y en mi corazón sentía dolor,
22 porque era un necio que no entendía;
¡era ante ti igual que una bestia!
23 Sin embargo, siempre he estado contigo.
Me has tomado de la mano derecha,
24 me has dirigido con tus consejos
y al final me recibirás con honores.
25 ¿A quién tengo en el cielo? ¡Sólo a ti!
Estando contigo nada quiero en la tierra.
26 Todo mi ser se consume,
pero Dios es mi herencia eterna
y el que sostiene mi corazón.
27 Los que se alejen de ti, morirán;
destruirás al que no te sea fiel.
28 Pero yo me acercaré a Dios,
pues para mí eso es lo mejor.
Tú, Señor y Dios, eres mi refugio,
y he de proclamar todo lo que has hecho.

Psalm 73
1 Ein Psalm Asaphs.
Nur[a] gut ist Gott gegen Israel,
gegen die, welche reinen Herzens sind.
2 Ich aber — fast wäre ich gestrauchelt mit meinen Füßen,
wie leicht hätte ich einen Fehltritt getan!
3 Denn ich beneidete die Übermütigen,
als ich das Wohlergehen der Gottlosen sah.
4 Denn sie leiden keine Qual bis zu ihrem Tod,
und ihr Leib ist wohlgenährt.
5 Sie leben nicht in der Not der Sterblichen
und sind nicht geplagt wie andere Menschen.
6 Darum ist Hochmut ihr Halsschmuck,
und Gewalttat ist das Gewand, das sie umhüllt.
7 Ihr Gesicht strotzt von Fett;
sie bilden sich sehr viel ein.[b]
8 Sie höhnen und reden boshaft von Bedrückung,
hochfahrend reden sie.
9 Sie reden, als käme es vom Himmel;
was sie sagen, muss gelten auf Erden.[c]
10 Darum wendet sich auch sein Volk ihnen zu,
und es wird von ihnen viel Wasser aufgesogen.[d]
11 Und sie sagen: »Wie sollte Gott es wissen?
Hat denn der Höchste Kenntnis davon?«
12 Siehe, das sind die Gottlosen;
denen geht es immer gut, und sie werden reich!
13 Ganz umsonst habe ich mein Herz rein erhalten
und meine Hände in Unschuld gewaschen;
14 denn ich bin doch den ganzen Tag geplagt worden,
und meine Züchtigung war jeden Morgen da!
15 Wenn ich gesagt hätte: »Ich will ebenso reden!«
— siehe, so hätte ich treulos gehandelt am Geschlecht deiner Söhne.
16 So sann ich denn nach, um dies zu verstehen;
aber es war vergebliche Mühe in meinen Augen
17 — bis ich in das Heiligtum Gottes ging[e]
und auf ihr Ende achtgab.
18 Fürwahr, du stellst sie auf schlüpfrigen Boden;
du lässt sie fallen, dass sie in Trümmer sinken.
19 Wie sind sie so plötzlich verwüstet worden!
Sie sind untergegangen und haben ein Ende mit Schrecken genommen.
20 Wie man einen Traum nach dem Erwachen verschmäht,
so wirst du, o Herr, wenn du dich aufmachst,[f] ihr Bild verschmähen.
21 Als mein Herz verbittert war
und ich in meinen Nieren das Stechen fühlte,
22 da war ich töricht und verstand nichts;
ich verhielt mich wie ein Vieh gegen dich.
23 Und dennoch bleibe ich stets bei dir;
du hältst mich bei meiner rechten Hand.
24 Du leitest mich nach deinem Rat
und nimmst mich danach in Herrlichkeit auf!
25 Wen habe ich im Himmel [außer dir]?
Und neben dir begehre ich nichts auf Erden!
26 Wenn mir auch Leib und Seele vergehen,
so bleibt doch Gott ewiglich meines Herzens Fels und mein Teil.
27 Denn siehe, die fern von dir sind, gehen ins Verderben;
du vertilgst alle, die dir hurerisch die Treue brechen.[g]
28 Mir aber ist die Nähe Gottes köstlich;
ich habe Gott, den Herrn, zu meiner Zuflucht gemacht,
um alle deine Werke zu verkünden.

A psalm of Asaph.
1 Surely God is good to Israel,
to those who are pure in heart.(A)
2 But as for me, my feet had almost slipped;(B)
I had nearly lost my foothold.(C)
3 For I envied(D) the arrogant
when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.(E)
4 They have no struggles;
their bodies are healthy and strong.[a]
5 They are free(F) from common human burdens;
they are not plagued by human ills.
6 Therefore pride(G) is their necklace;(H)
they clothe themselves with violence.(I)
7 From their callous hearts(J) comes iniquity[b];
their evil imaginations have no limits.
8 They scoff, and speak with malice;(K)
with arrogance(L) they threaten oppression.(M)
9 Their mouths lay claim to heaven,
and their tongues take possession of the earth.
10 Therefore their people turn to them
and drink up waters in abundance.[c]
11 They say, “How would God know?
Does the Most High know anything?”
13 Surely in vain(P) I have kept my heart pure
and have washed my hands in innocence.(Q)
14 All day long I have been afflicted,(R)
and every morning brings new punishments.
15 If I had spoken out like that,
I would have betrayed your children.
16 When I tried to understand(S) all this,
it troubled me deeply
17 till I entered the sanctuary(T) of God;
then I understood their final destiny.(U)
18 Surely you place them on slippery ground;(V)
you cast them down to ruin.(W)
19 How suddenly(X) are they destroyed,
completely swept away(Y) by terrors!
20 They are like a dream(Z) when one awakes;(AA)
when you arise, Lord,
you will despise them as fantasies.(AB)
21 When my heart was grieved
and my spirit embittered,
22 I was senseless(AC) and ignorant;
I was a brute beast(AD) before you.
23 Yet I am always with you;
you hold me by my right hand.(AE)
24 You guide(AF) me with your counsel,(AG)
and afterward you will take me into glory.
25 Whom have I in heaven but you?(AH)
And earth has nothing I desire besides you.(AI)
26 My flesh and my heart(AJ) may fail,(AK)
but God is the strength(AL) of my heart
and my portion(AM) forever.
