Señor, ¡ven pronto en mi ayuda!
2 (3) ¡Que sean puestos en ridículo
los que tratan de matarme!
¡Que huyan en forma vergonzosa
los que quieren hacerme daño!
3 (4) ¡Que huyan avergonzados
los que se burlan de mí!
4 (5) Pero que todos los que te buscan
se llenen de alegría;
que los que desean tu salvación
digan siempre: «¡Dios es grande!»
5 (6) Y a mí, que estoy pobre y afligido,
Dios mío, ¡ven pronto a ayudarme!

2 Guð, lát þér þóknast að frelsa mig, Drottinn, skunda mér til hjálpar.
3 Lát þá verða til skammar og hljóta kinnroða, er sitja um líf mitt, lát þá hverfa aftur með skömm, er óska mér ógæfu.
4 Lát þá hörfa undan sakir smánar sinnar, er hrópa háð og spé.
5 En allir þeir er leita þín, skulu gleðjast og fagna yfir þér, þeir er unna hjálpræði þínu, skulu sífellt segja: "Vegsamaður sé Guð!"
6 Ég er þjáður og snauður, hraða þér til mín, ó Guð. Þú ert fulltingi mitt og frelsari, dvel eigi, Drottinn!

70 Make haste, o God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O Lord.
2 Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul: let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt.
3 Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame that say, Aha, aha.
4 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.
5 But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God: thou art my help and my deliverer; O Lord, make no tarrying.

be put to shame and confusion;
may all who desire my ruin

3 May those who say to me, “Aha! Aha!”(E)
turn back because of their shame.
4 But may all who seek you(F)
rejoice and be glad(G) in you;
may those who long for your saving help always say,
“The Lord is great!”(H)
