68 ⁽²⁾Cuando Dios entra en acción,
sus enemigos se dispersan;
los que le odian huyen de su presencia;
²⁽³⁾desaparecen como el humo en el aire,
se derriten como la cera en el fuego;
¡ante Dios están perdidos los malvados!
³⁽⁴⁾Pero los buenos se alegran;
ante Dios se llenan de gozo,
¡saltan de alegría!

⁴⁽⁵⁾Canten ustedes a Dios,
canten himnos a su nombre;
alaben al que cabalga sobre las nubes.
¡Alégrense en el Señor!
¡Alégrense en su presencia!
⁵⁽⁶⁾Dios, que habita en su santo templo,
es padre de los huérfanos
y defensor de las viudas;
⁶⁽⁷⁾Dios da a los solitarios un hogar donde vivir,
libera a los prisioneros y les da prosperidad;
pero los rebeldes vivirán en tierra estéril.

⁷⁽⁸⁾Oh Dios, cuando saliste al frente de tu pueblo
marchando a través del desierto,
⁸⁽⁹⁾la tierra tembló,
la lluvia cayó del cielo,
el Sinaí tembló delante de Dios,
delante del Dios de Israel.
⁹⁽¹⁰⁾Oh Dios, tú hiciste llover en abundancia;
tu pueblo estaba agotado, y tú le diste fuerza.
¹⁰⁽¹¹⁾Tu pueblo se estableció allí
y tú, oh Dios, por tu bondad,
le diste al pobre lo necesario.

¹¹⁽¹²⁾El Señor dio un mensaje;
muchas mujeres lo anunciaban:
¹²⁽¹³⁾«¡Están huyendo los reyes y sus ejércitos!»
En casa, las mujeres se repartían
lo que se le había quitado al enemigo,
¹³⁽¹⁴⁾pero ustedes se quedaron entre los rediles.
¡Alas de paloma cubiertas de plata!
¡Sus plumas cubiertas de oro fino!
¹⁴⁽¹⁵⁾Cuando el Todopoderoso hizo huir a los reyes,
nevaba sobre el monte Salmón.

¹⁵⁽¹⁶⁾¡Qué altos son los montes de Basán,
y qué elevadas sus cumbres!
¹⁶⁽¹⁷⁾Ustedes, que son montes tan altos,
¿por qué miran con envidia
el monte donde Dios quiso residir?
¡El Señor vivirá allí para siempre!

¹⁷⁽¹⁸⁾Dios cuenta por millones sus carros de combate;
del Sinaí vino en ellos a su templo.
¹⁸⁽¹⁹⁾Oh Dios, subiste a lo alto llevando cautivos;
recibiste tributo entre los hombres
y hasta los rebeldes se rindieron a ti, Señor.

¹⁹⁽²⁰⁾¡Bendito sea el Señor, nuestro Dios y Salvador,
que día tras día lleva nuestras cargas!
²⁰⁽²¹⁾Nuestro Dios es un Dios que salva
y que puede librarnos de la muerte.
²¹⁽²²⁾Dios partirá la cabeza de sus enemigos,
la cabeza de los que siguen pecando.

²²⁽²³⁾El Señor ha dicho:
«Te haré volver de Basán;
te haré volver del mar profundo,
²³⁽²⁴⁾para que bañes tus pies
en la sangre de tus enemigos
y tus perros se la beban.»

²⁴⁽²⁵⁾Oh Dios, mi Dios y Rey,
en tu santuario se ven las procesiones
que celebran en tu honor.
²⁵⁽²⁶⁾Los cantores van al frente
y los músicos detrás,
y en medio las jovencitas
van tocando panderetas.
²⁶⁽²⁷⁾¡Bendigan todos ustedes a Dios el Señor!
¡Bendígalo todo Israel reunido!
²⁷⁽²⁸⁾Al frente de ellos va Benjamín, el menor,
con muchos jefes de Judá,
de Zabulón y de Neftalí.

²⁸⁽²⁹⁾Dios mío, demuestra tu poder;
¡reafirma lo que has hecho por nosotros!
²⁹⁽³⁰⁾Desde tu alto templo, en Jerusalén,
adonde los reyes te traen regalos,
³⁰⁽³¹⁾reprende a Egipto, a esa bestia de los juncos,
a esa manada de toros bravos y de becerros
que en su afán de riquezas humillan a los pueblos;
¡dispersa a la gente que ama la guerra!
³¹⁽³²⁾De Egipto vendrán embajadores;
Etiopía levantará sus manos a Dios.

³²⁽³³⁾¡Canten a Dios, reinos de la tierra,
canten himnos al Señor,
³³⁽³⁴⁾al que cabalga en los cielos,
en los cielos eternos!
Escuchen cómo resuena su voz,
su voz poderosa.
³⁴⁽³⁵⁾Reconozcan el poder de Dios:
su majestad se extiende sobre Israel,
su poder alcanza el cielo azul.
³⁵⁽³⁶⁾Maravilloso es Dios en su santuario;
el Dios de Israel da poder y fuerza a su pueblo.

68 (For the one directing. Of Dovid. Mizmor. Shir.) Let Elohim arise, let His oyevim be scattered; let them also that hate Him flee before Him.

²⁽³⁾As ashan (smoke) is blown away, so drive them away; as wax melteth before the eish, so let the resha’im perish at the presence of Elohim.

³⁽⁴⁾But let the tzaddikim have simchah; let them rejoice before Elohim; and, let them rejoice with simchah.

⁴⁽⁵⁾Sing unto Elohim, sing praises to Shmo; extol Him that rideth on the clouds by Shmo Hashem, and rejoice before Him.

⁵⁽⁶⁾Avi yetomim (father of orphans), and a dayan (judge) of almanot (widows), is Elohim in His Ma’on Kodesh.

⁶⁽⁷⁾Elohim setteth the yechidim (alone ones) in a family; He bringeth out those which are asirim (prisoners, those bound with chains); but the sorerim (rebels) dwell in a dry land.

⁷⁽⁸⁾O Elohim, when Thou wentest forth before Thy people, when Thou didst march through the wilderness; Selah;

⁸⁽⁹⁾Eretz shook, Shomayim also poured rain at the presence of Elohim; even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of Elohim, Elohei Yisroel.

⁹⁽¹⁰⁾Thou, O Elohim, didst send a plentiful geshem (rain), whereby Thou didst restore Thine nachalah, when it was parched.

¹⁰⁽¹¹⁾Thy congregation hath dwelt therein; Thou, O Elohim, hast prepared of Thy bounty for the oni.

¹¹⁽¹²⁾Adonoi gave the word; rav (great) was the tzava (company, army) of the mevaserot (heralds, those that published it, the lady evangelists).

¹²⁽¹³⁾Melachim of tzeva’ot (armies) shall flee, they flee; and she that tarried at home shall divide the plunder.

¹³⁽¹⁴⁾Though ye have lain among the cooking pots, yet shall ye be as the wings of a yonah covered with kesef, and her feathers with glistening gold.

¹⁴⁽¹⁵⁾When Shaddai scattered melachim therein, it was white as snow in Tzalmon.

¹⁵⁽¹⁶⁾The Har Elohim is the Har Bashan; a mountain of peaks is the Har Bashan.

¹⁶⁽¹⁷⁾Why gaze ye in envy, ye many-peaked harim? This is the har which Elohim hath chosen to dwell in; indeed, Hashem will dwell in it lanetzach (forever).

¹⁷⁽¹⁸⁾The merkavot of Elohim are myriads, a thousand thousands; Adonoi is among them, as in Sinai, in kodesh (holiness).

¹⁸⁽¹⁹⁾Thou hast ascended on marom (high), Thou hast led captivity captive; Thou hast received mattanot among adam; yes, even from the sorerim (the rebellious) also, that Hashem Elohim might dwell [there].

¹⁹⁽²⁰⁾Baruch Adonoi, Who yom yom bears us up, even HaEl Yeshuateinu (the G-d of our salvation). Selah.

²⁰⁽²¹⁾Our G-d is a G-d who saves; and from Hashem Adonoi come escapes from mavet (death).

²¹⁽²²⁾But Elohim shall shatter the rosh of His oyevim, and the hairy kodkod (crown of the head, scalp) of such a one as continueth on in his trespasses.

²²⁽²³⁾Adonoi said, I will bring back from Bashan, I will bring back from the depths of the sea;

²³⁽²⁴⁾That thy regel may be bathed in dahm, that the leshon of thy klavim (dogs) may partake of the oyevim.

²⁴⁽²⁵⁾They have seen Thy processions, O Elohim; even the goings of my G-d, my Melech, in the Kodesh.

²⁵⁽²⁶⁾The sharim (singers) went before, the nogenim (players on instruments) followed after; among them were the alamot (young unmarried virgins) playing timbrels.

²⁶⁽²⁷⁾Barchu Elohim in the congregations, even Hashem, out of the Makor Yisroel (Fountain of Israel).

²⁷⁽²⁸⁾There is Binyamin, the youngest at the head; the sarim (princes) of Yehudah and the throng of them, the sarim (princes) of Zevulun, and the sarim (princes) of Naphtali.

²⁸⁽²⁹⁾Eloheicha hath commanded thy oz; strengthen, O Elohim, that which Thou hast wrought for us.

²⁹⁽³⁰⁾Because of Thy Heikhal at Yerushalayim shall melachim bring offerings unto Thee.

³⁰⁽³¹⁾Rebuke the company of spearmen, the adat (herd) of bulls, with the agalim (calves) of the nations, till every one prostrate himself with ingots of kesef; He scatters the people that delight in wars.

³¹⁽³²⁾Magnates shall come out of Mitzrayim; Ethiopia shall soon stretch out her hands unto Elohim.

³²⁽³³⁾Sing unto Elohim, ye mamlechot of ha’aretz; O sing praises unto Adonoi. Selah.

³³⁽³⁴⁾To Him that rideth upon the skies of Shomayim of old; lo, He doth send out His voice, and that a kol oz (mighty voice).

³⁴⁽³⁵⁾Ascribe ye oz (power) unto Elohim; His majesty is over Yisroel, and His oz is in the skies.

³⁵⁽³⁶⁾O Elohim, Thou art norah (awesome, terrible) out of Thy Mikdashim; the El (G-d) of Yisroel is He that giveth oz and strength unto His people. Baruch Elohim.

Psalm 68^[a]

For the director of music. Of David. A psalm. A song.

¹May God arise,^(A) may his enemies be scattered;^(B)
    may his foes flee^(C) before him.
²May you blow them away like smoke—^(D)
    as wax melts^(E) before the fire,
    may the wicked perish^(F) before God.
³But may the righteous be glad
    and rejoice^(G) before God;
    may they be happy and joyful.

⁴Sing to God, sing in praise of his name,^(H)
    extol him who rides on the clouds^[b]^(I);
    rejoice before him—his name is the Lord.^(J)
⁵A father to the fatherless,^(K) a defender of widows,^(L)
    is God in his holy dwelling.^(M)
⁶God sets the lonely^(N) in families,^[c]^(O)
    he leads out the prisoners^(P) with singing;
    but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.^(Q)

⁷When you, God, went out^(R) before your people,
    when you marched through the wilderness,^[d]^(S)
⁸the earth shook,^(T) the heavens poured down rain,^(U)
    before God, the One of Sinai,^(V)
    before God, the God of Israel.^(W)
⁹You gave abundant showers,^(X) O God;
    you refreshed your weary inheritance.
¹⁰Your people settled in it,
    and from your bounty,^(Y) God, you provided^(Z) for the poor.

¹¹The Lord announces the word,
    and the women who proclaim it are a mighty throng:^(AA)
¹²“Kings and armies flee^(AB) in haste;
    the women at home divide the plunder.^(AC)
¹³Even while you sleep among the sheep pens,^[e]^(AD)
    the wings of my dove are sheathed with silver,
    its feathers with shining gold.”
¹⁴When the Almighty^[f] scattered^(AE) the kings in the land,
    it was like snow fallen on Mount Zalmon.^(AF)

¹⁵Mount Bashan,^(AG) majestic mountain,^(AH)
    Mount Bashan, rugged mountain,
¹⁶why gaze in envy, you rugged mountain,
    at the mountain where God chooses^(AI) to reign,
    where the Lord himself will dwell forever?^(AJ)
¹⁷The chariots^(AK) of God are tens of thousands
    and thousands of thousands;^(AL)
    the Lord has come from Sinai into his sanctuary.^[g]
¹⁸When you ascended^(AM) on high,^(AN)
    you took many captives;^(AO)
    you received gifts from people,^(AP)
even from^[h] the rebellious^(AQ)—
    that you,^[i] Lord God, might dwell there.

¹⁹Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior,^(AR)
    who daily bears our burdens.^(AS)
²⁰Our God is a God who saves;^(AT)
    from the Sovereign Lord comes escape from death.^(AU)
²¹Surely God will crush the heads^(AV) of his enemies,
    the hairy crowns of those who go on in their sins.
²²The Lord says, “I will bring them from Bashan;
    I will bring them from the depths of the sea,^(AW)
²³that your feet may wade in the blood of your foes,^(AX)
    while the tongues of your dogs^(AY) have their share.”

²⁴Your procession, God, has come into view,
    the procession of my God and King into the sanctuary.^(AZ)
²⁵In front are the singers,^(BA) after them the musicians;^(BB)
    with them are the young women playing the timbrels.^(BC)
²⁶Praise God in the great congregation;^(BD)
    praise the Lord in the assembly of Israel.^(BE)
²⁷There is the little tribe^(BF) of Benjamin,^(BG) leading them,
    there the great throng of Judah’s princes,
    and there the princes of Zebulun and of Naphtali.^(BH)

²⁸Summon your power,^(BI) God^[j];
    show us your strength,^(BJ) our God, as you have done^(BK) before.
²⁹Because of your temple at Jerusalem
    kings will bring you gifts.^(BL)
³⁰Rebuke the beast^(BM) among the reeds,^(BN)
    the herd of bulls^(BO) among the calves of the nations.
Humbled, may the beast bring bars of silver.
    Scatter the nations^(BP) who delight in war.^(BQ)
³¹Envoys will come from Egypt;^(BR)
    Cush^[k]^(BS) will submit herself to God.

³²Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth,^(BT)
    sing praise^(BU) to the Lord,
³³to him who rides^(BV) across the highest heavens, the ancient heavens,
    who thunders^(BW) with mighty voice.^(BX)
³⁴Proclaim the power^(BY) of God,
    whose majesty^(BZ) is over Israel,
    whose power is in the heavens.
³⁵You, God, are awesome^(CA) in your sanctuary;^(CB)
    the God of Israel gives power and strength^(CC) to his people.^(CD)

To the Director of music: A Psalm. A song.

A Song of Praise to God

68 God arises,
    and his enemies are scattered.
        Those who hate him flee from his presence.^[a]
²As smoke is driven away, so you drive them away.
    As wax melts in the presence of fire,
        so the wicked die in the presence of God.
³But the righteous rejoice and exult before God;
    they are overwhelmed with joy.

⁴Sing to God!
    Sing praise to his name!
        Exalt the one who rides on the clouds.
The Lord is his name.
    Be jubilant in his presence.
⁵A father to orphans and an advocate for widows
    is God in his holy dwelling place.
⁶God causes the lonely to dwell in families.^[b]
    He leads prisoners into prosperity,
        but rebels live on parched land.

⁷God, when you led out your people,
    when you marched through the desert,
Interlude
⁸the land quaked.
Indeed, the heavens poured down rain
    from the presence of God,
        this God of Sinai,
    from the presence of God,
        the God of Israel.
⁹God, you poured out abundant rain on your inheritance.
    When Israel^[c] was weary, you sustained her.
¹⁰Your people live^[d] there;
    you sustain the needy^[e] with your goodness, God.

¹¹The Lord issues a command.
    Numerous are the women who announce the news:
¹²“Kings of armies retreat and flee,
    while the lady of the house divides the spoil.
¹³When you men lie down among the sheepfolds,
    you are like^[f] the wings of the dove covered with silver,
        with its feathers in glittering gold.”

¹⁴When the Almighty scattered the kings there,
there was snow on Mt. Zalmon.

¹⁵The mountain of God is as the mountain of Bashan;
a mountain of many peaks is Mount Bashan.

¹⁶You mountains of many peaks, why do you watch with envy
    the mountain in which God has chosen to dwell?
        Indeed, the Lord will live there forever.
¹⁷God’s chariots were many thousands.
    The Lord was there with them at Sinai in holiness.
¹⁸You ascended to the heights,
    you took captives.
You received gifts among mankind,
    even the rebellious,
        so the Lord God may live there.^[g]
¹⁹Blessed be the Lord who daily carries us.
    God is our deliverer.

²⁰God is for us the God of our deliverance.
    The Lord God rescues us from death.
²¹God surely strikes the heads of his enemies,
    even the hairy heads of those who continue in their guilt.
²²The Lord says, “From Bashan I will bring them,
    I will bring them from the depths of the sea,
²³that your feet may wade through blood.
The tongues of your dogs will have their portions
    from your enemies.”

²⁴They have observed your processions, God,
    the processions of my God,
        my king, in the sanctuary.
²⁵The singers are in front,
    the musicians follow,
        strumming their stringed instruments
among the maidens who are playing their tambourines.

²⁶Bless God in the great congregation,
    the Lord who is the fountain of Israel.
²⁷Little Benjamin is there, leading them,
    and the princes of Judah all together
        with the princes of Zebulun and the princes of Naphtali.

²⁸Summon the power of your God,
    the power, God, that you have shown us.
²⁹Because of your Temple in Jerusalem,
    kings bring tribute to you.
³⁰Rebuke the wildlife that lives among the reeds,
    the nations that congregate like bulls and cows,
humbling themselves with pieces of silver,
    for God^[h] scatters the nations that delight in battle.
³¹Envoys will come from Egypt.
    Let the Ethiopians stretch out their hands to God.

³²You kingdoms of the earth, sing to God!
Sing praises to the Lord,

³³to the one who rides the heavens, the ancient heavens.
Behold! He thunders with a mighty voice.

³⁴Ascribe power to God, whose glory is over Israel,
    whose power is in the skies.
³⁵You are awesome, God, from your sanctuaries.
    The God of Israel is the one
        who gives strength and power to the people.
