Davi suplica a Deus que o livre e protesta a sua inocência
Mictão de Davi para o cantor-mor, sobre Al-Tachete, quando Saul lhes mandou que guardassem a sua casa para o matarem
59 Livra-me, meu Deus, dos meus inimigos; defende-me daqueles que se levantam contra mim. 2 Livra-me dos que praticam a iniquidade e salva-me dos homens sanguinários, 3 pois eis que armam ciladas à minha alma; os fortes se ajuntam contra mim, sem transgressão minha ou pecado meu, ó Senhor. 4 Eles correm e se preparam, sem culpa minha; desperta para me ajudares e olha. 5 Tu, pois, ó Senhor, Deus dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel, desperta para visitares todas as nações: não tenhas misericórdia de nenhum dos pérfidos que praticam a iniquidade. 6 Voltam à tarde; dão ganidos como cães, rodeando a cidade. 7 Eis que eles dão gritos com a boca; espadas estão nos seus lábios; porque dizem eles: Quem ouve? 8 Mas tu, Senhor, te rirás deles; zombarás de todos os gentios. 9 Por causa da sua força eu te aguardarei; pois Deus é a minha alta defesa.
10 O Deus da minha misericórdia virá ao meu encontro; Deus me fará ver o meu desejo sobre os meus inimigos. 11 Não os mates, para que o meu povo se não esqueça; espalha-os pelo teu poder e abate-os, ó Senhor, nosso escudo. 12 Pelo pecado da sua boca e pelas palavras dos seus lábios fiquem presos na sua soberba; e pelas maldições e pelas mentiras que proferem. 13 Consome-os na tua indignação, consome-os de modo que não existam mais, para que saibam que Deus reina em Jacó até aos confins da terra. 14 E tornem a vir à tarde e deem ganidos como cães, rodeando a cidade. 15 Vagueiem buscando o que comer, passem a noite sem se fartarem. 16 Eu, porém, cantarei a tua força; pela manhã, louvarei com alegria a tua misericórdia, porquanto tu foste o meu alto refúgio e proteção no dia da minha angústia. 17 A ti, ó fortaleza minha, cantarei louvores; porque Deus é a minha defesa, é o Deus da minha misericórdia.

Ao regente do coral: salmo[a] de Davi, sobre a ocasião em que Saul enviou soldados para vigiar a casa de Davi a fim de matá-lo. Para ser cantado com a melodia “Não destruas!”.
59 Livra-me de meus inimigos, ó Deus,
protege-me dos que vieram me destruir.
2 Livra-me dos criminosos,
salva-me dos assassinos.
3 Armaram uma emboscada para mim;
inimigos ferozes estão à minha espera, Senhor,
embora eu não tenha pecado nem os tenha ofendido.
4 Sou inocente,
mas eles se apressam em me atacar.
Desperta! Vê o que está acontecendo e ajuda-me!
5 Ó Senhor, Deus dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel,
desperta e castiga as nações;
não tenhas misericórdia dos traidores perversos.

6 Eles saem à noite,
rosnando como cães ferozes
enquanto rondam a cidade.
7 Ouve as coisas imundas que lhes saem da boca;
suas palavras cortam como espadas.
“Afinal, quem nos ouvirá?”, dizem com desprezo.
8 Mas tu, Senhor, ris deles;
zombas das nações.
9 És minha força; em ti espero,
pois tu, ó Deus, és minha fortaleza.
10 Em seu amor, meu Deus estará comigo;
permitirá que eu triunfe sobre meus inimigos.
11 Não os mates, para que meu povo não se esqueça depressa;
dispersa-os com teu poder e derruba-os,
ó Senhor, nosso escudo.
12 Pelas coisas pecaminosas que dizem,
pelo mal que há em seus lábios,
que sejam apanhados em seu orgulho,
em suas maldições e mentiras.
13 Destrói-os em tua ira!
Extermina-os por completo!
Então o mundo todo saberá
que Deus reina em Israel.[b]

15 Andam à procura de alimento,
mas vão dormir insatisfeitos.[c]

For the director of music. To the tune of “Do Not Destroy.” Of David. A miktam.[b] When Saul had sent men to watch David’s house(A) in order to kill him.
1 Deliver me from my enemies, O God;(B)
be my fortress against those who are attacking me.(C)
2 Deliver me from evildoers(D)
and save me from those who are after my blood.(E)
3 See how they lie in wait for me!
Fierce men conspire(F) against me
for no offense or sin of mine, Lord.
4 I have done no wrong,(G) yet they are ready to attack me.(H)
Arise to help me; look on my plight!(I)
5 You, Lord God Almighty,
you who are the God of Israel,(J)
rouse yourself(K) to punish all the nations;(L)
show no mercy to wicked traitors.[c](M)
6 They return at evening,
snarling like dogs,(N)
and prowl about the city.
7 See what they spew from their mouths(O)—
the words from their lips are sharp as swords,(P)
and they think, “Who can hear us?”(Q)
8 But you laugh at them, Lord;(R)
you scoff at all those nations.(S)
9 You are my strength,(T) I watch for you;
you, God, are my fortress,(U)
10 my God on whom I can rely.
God will go before me
and will let me gloat over those who slander me.
11 But do not kill them, Lord our shield,[d](V)
or my people will forget.(W)
In your might uproot them
and bring them down.(X)
12 For the sins of their mouths,(Y)
for the words of their lips,(Z)
let them be caught in their pride.(AA)
For the curses and lies they utter,
13 consume them in your wrath,
consume them till they are no more.(AB)
Then it will be known to the ends of the earth
that God rules over Jacob.(AC)

59 Deliver me from my enemies, O my God;
[b]Defend me from those who rise up against me.
2 Deliver me from the workers of iniquity,
And save me from bloodthirsty men.
3 For look, they lie in wait for my life;
(B)The mighty gather against me,
Not for my transgression nor for my sin, O Lord.
4 They run and prepare themselves through no fault of mine.
(C)Awake to help me, and behold!
5 You therefore, O Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel,
Awake to punish all the [c]nations;
Do not be merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah
6 (D)At evening they return,
They growl like a dog,
And go all around the city.
7 Indeed, they belch with their mouth;
(E)Swords are in their lips;
For they say, (F)“Who hears?”
8 But (G)You, O Lord, shall laugh at them;
You shall have all the [d]nations in derision.
9 I will wait for You, O You [e]his Strength;
(H)For God is my [f]defense.
10 [g]My God of mercy shall (I)come to meet me;
God shall let (J)me see my desire on my enemies.
11 Do not slay them, lest my people forget;
Scatter them by Your power,
And bring them down,
O Lord our shield.
12 (K)For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips,
Let them even be taken in their pride,
And for the cursing and lying which they speak.
13 (L)Consume them in wrath, consume them,
That they may not be;
And (M)let them know that God rules in Jacob
