Plegaria de un pecador
Al músico principal. Salmo de David, cuando Natán el profeta(A) fue a hablar con David por causa de su adulterio con Betsabé.
51 Dios mío,
por tu gran misericordia, ¡ten piedad de mí!;
por tu infinita bondad, ¡borra mis rebeliones!
2 Lávame más y más de mi maldad;
¡límpiame de mi pecado!
3 Reconozco que he sido rebelde;
¡mi pecado está siempre ante mis ojos!
4 Contra ti, y sólo contra ti, he pecado;
¡ante tus propios ojos he hecho lo malo!
Eso justifica plenamente tu sentencia,
y demuestra que tu juicio(B) es impecable.
5 ¡Mírame! ¡Yo fui formado en la maldad!
¡Mi madre me concibió en pecado!
6 ¡Mírame! Tú amas la verdad en lo íntimo;
¡haz que en lo secreto comprenda tu sabiduría!
7 ¡Purifícame con hisopo, y estaré limpio!
¡Lávame, y estaré más blanco que la nieve!
8 ¡Lléname de gozo y alegría,
y revivirán estos huesos que has abatido!
9 No te fijes ya en mis pecados;
más bien, borra todas mis maldades.
10 Dios mío,
¡crea en mí un corazón limpio!
¡Renueva en mí un espíritu de rectitud!
11 ¡No me despidas de tu presencia,
ni quites de mí tu santo espíritu!
12 ¡Devuélveme el gozo de tu salvación!
¡Dame un espíritu dispuesto a obedecerte!
13 Así instruiré a los pecadores en tus caminos;
así los pecadores se volverán a ti.
14 Dios mío, Dios de mi salvación,
¡líbrame de derramar sangre,
y mi lengua proclamará tu justicia!
15 Abre, Señor, mis labios,
y mi boca proclamará tu alabanza.
16 Aún si yo te ofreciera sacrificios,
no es eso lo que quieres;
¡no te agradan los holocaustos!
17 Los sacrificios que tú quieres
son el espíritu quebrantado;
tú, Dios mío, no desprecias
al corazón contrito y humillado.
18 Por tu bondad, trata bien a Sión;
¡reconstruye las murallas de Jerusalén!
19 Te agradarás entonces
con los sacrificios que mereces,
con los holocaustos y ofrendas del todo quemadas;
se ofrecerán entonces becerros sobre tu altar.

A Prayer of Repentance
To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David (A)when Nathan the prophet went to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba.
51 Have mercy upon me, O God,
According to Your lovingkindness;
According to the multitude of Your tender mercies,
(B)Blot out my transgressions.
2 (C)Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
And cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions,
And my sin is always before me.
4 (D)Against You, You only, have I sinned,
And done this evil (E)in Your sight—
(F)That You may be found just [a]when You speak,
And blameless when You judge.
5 (G)Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity,
And in sin my mother conceived me.
6 Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts,
And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.
7 (H)Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
Wash me, and I shall be (I)whiter than snow.
8 Make me hear joy and gladness,
That the bones You have broken (J)may rejoice.
9 Hide Your face from my sins,
And blot out all my iniquities.
10 (K)Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me away from Your presence,
And do not take Your (L)Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,
And uphold me by Your (M)generous Spirit.
13 Then I will teach transgressors Your ways,
And sinners shall be converted to You.
14 Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God,
The God of my salvation,
And my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness.
15 O Lord, open my lips,
And my mouth shall show forth Your praise.
16 For (N)You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You do not delight in burnt offering.
17 (O)The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit,
A broken and a contrite heart—
These, O God, You will not despise.
18 Do good in Your good pleasure to Zion;
Build the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then You shall be pleased with (P)the sacrifices of righteousness,
With burnt offering and whole burnt offering;
Then they shall offer bulls on Your altar.
