Salmo 37 (36)
Los justos heredarán la tierra
37 De David.
No te exasperes con los malvados,
no envidies a los que obran mal,
2 pues como la hierba pronto se secan,
como el prado verde se agostan.
3 Confía en el Señor y haz el bien,
habita esta tierra y sé fiel.
4 Deléitate en el Señor
y él te dará cuanto pidas.
5 Encomienda tu camino al Señor,
confía en él y él actuará.
6 Hará que como la luz resplandezca tu justicia,
como el mediodía tu derecho.
7 Descansa en el Señor
y pon en él tu esperanza;
no envidies a quien prospera,
a quien no para de tramar intrigas.
8 No te enfurezcas, no te enojes,
no te exasperes que harás mal.
9 Pues los malvados serán aniquilados;
heredarán, en cambio, la tierra
los que confían en el Señor.
10 Dentro de poco no habrá ni un malvado,
mirarás dónde estaba y no habrá nadie.
11 Los humildes heredarán la tierra
y se deleitarán en una inmensa paz.
12 El malvado maquina contra el justo,
rechina sus dientes contra él.
13 Pero mi Dios se ríe de él
porque ve que llega su fin.
14 Desenvainan su espada
y tensan su arco los impíos
para abatir al humilde y al oprimido,
para aniquilar a los honrados.
15 Pero su espada se hundirá en su corazón
y quedarán rotos sus arcos.
16 Es mejor la pobreza de un justo
que la riqueza de muchos malvados;
17 el poder del malvado se desvanece,
mientras el Señor protege a los justos.
18 El Señor conoce la vida de los buenos
y su herencia durará por siempre.
19 No serán defraudados en tiempo adverso,
en tiempo de hambre quedarán saciados.
20 Pero los malvados desaparecerán,
los enemigos del Señor se extinguirán
como el verdor del prado,
se esfumarán como el humo.
21 El malvado toma prestado y no devuelve,
el justo es compasivo y dadivoso.
22 Los que el Señor bendice heredarán la tierra,
los que maldice serán aniquilados.
23 El Señor afianza los pasos del ser humano
y en su conducta se complace.
24 Aunque caiga, no quedará postrado,
porque el Señor sostiene su mano.
25 Fui joven, soy ya viejo,
pero nunca vi a un justo abandonado
ni a sus hijos pidiendo pan.
26 El justo es siempre compasivo y presta,
¡bendito sea su linaje!
27 Apártate del mal, haz el bien
y por siempre tendrás una morada.
28 Porque el Señor ama el derecho
y no abandona a sus fieles;
en todo momento los protege
y extermina el linaje de los malvados.
29 Los justos poseerán la tierra
y habitarán en ella por siempre.
30 La boca del justo vierte sabiduría,
su lengua proclama la justicia.
31 La ley del Señor está en su corazón
y sus pies no tropiezan.
32 El malvado acecha al justo
y pretende darle muerte.
33 Pero el Señor no lo pondrá en sus manos,
no dejará que lo condenen en el juicio.
34 Espera en el Señor, respeta su camino;
él te alzará para que heredes la tierra
y tú contemplarás el exterminio del malvado.
35 Yo vi a un malvado engreído,
ufanándose como un cedro frondoso;
36 pero volví a pasar y no estaba,
lo estuve buscando y no lo encontré.
37 Observa al bueno, mira al honrado,
porque al pacífico le aguarda un mañana;
38 pero los pecadores serán aniquilados,
el futuro de los malvados se desvanecerá.
39 Del Señor viene la salvación de los justos,
él es su refugio en tiempo de angustia.
40 El Señor los ayuda y los libra,
los libra de los malvados y los salva,
porque han puesto en él su confianza.

Instruction in Wisdom
Of David.
1 Do not be agitated by evildoers;
do not envy those who do wrong.(A)
2 For they wither quickly like grass
and wilt like tender green plants.(B)
3 Trust in the Lord and do what is good;(C)
dwell in the land and live securely.[a](D)
4 Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you your heart’s desires.(E)
5 Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act,(F)
6 making your righteousness shine like the dawn,
your justice like the noonday.(G)
7 Be silent before the Lord and wait expectantly for him;(H)
do not be agitated by one who prospers in his way,
by the person who carries out evil plans.(I)
8 Refrain from anger and give up your rage;
do not be agitated—it can only bring harm.(J)
9 For evildoers will be destroyed,
but those who put their hope in the Lord
will inherit the land.(K)
10 A little while, and the wicked person will be no more;
though you look for him, he will not be there.(L)
11 But the humble will inherit the land(M)
and will enjoy abundant prosperity.(N)
12 The wicked person schemes against the righteous
and gnashes his teeth at him.(O)
13 The Lord laughs at him(P)
because he sees that his day is coming.(Q)
14 The wicked have drawn the sword and strung the[b] bow
to bring down the poor and needy
and to slaughter those whose way is upright.(R)
15 Their swords will enter their own hearts,
and their bows will be broken.(S)
16 The little that the righteous person has is better
than the abundance of many wicked people.(T)
17 For the arms of the wicked will be broken,(U)
but the Lord supports the righteous.(V)
18 The Lord watches over the blameless all their days,
and their inheritance will last forever.(W)
19 They will not be disgraced in times of adversity;
they will be satisfied in days of hunger.(X)
20 But the wicked will perish;
the Lord’s enemies, like the glory of the pastures,
will fade away—
they will fade away like smoke.(Y)
21 The wicked person borrows and does not repay,
but the righteous one is gracious and giving.(Z)
22 Those who are blessed by the Lord will inherit the land,
but those cursed by him will be destroyed.(AA)
23 A person’s steps are established by the Lord,
and he takes pleasure in his way.(AB)
24 Though he falls, he will not be overwhelmed,
because the Lord supports him with his hand.(AC)
25 I have been young and now I am old,
yet I have not seen the righteous abandoned
or his children begging for bread.(AD)
26 He is always generous, always lending,
and his children are a blessing.(AE)
27 Turn away from evil, do what is good,
and settle permanently.(AF)
28 For the Lord loves justice
and will not abandon his faithful ones.(AG)
They are kept safe forever,
but the children of the wicked will be destroyed.(AH)
29 The righteous will inherit the land
and dwell in it permanently.(AI)
30 The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom;
his tongue speaks what is just.(AJ)
31 The instruction of his God is in his heart;
his steps do not falter.(AK)
32 The wicked one lies in wait for the righteous
and intends to kill him;(AL)
33 the Lord will not leave him
in the power of the wicked one
or allow him to be condemned when he is judged.(AM)
34 Wait for the Lord and keep his way,
and he will exalt you to inherit the land.
You will watch when the wicked are destroyed.(AN)
35 I have seen a wicked, violent person
well-rooted,[c] like a flourishing native tree.(AO)
36 Then I[d] passed by and noticed he was gone;
I searched for him, but he could not be found.(AP)
37 Watch the blameless and observe the upright,
for the person of peace will have a future.[e](AQ)
38 But transgressors will all be eliminated;
the future of the wicked will be destroyed.(AR)

Psalm 37[a]
Of David.
1 Do not fret because of those who are evil
or be envious(A) of those who do wrong;(B)
2 for like the grass they will soon wither,(C)
like green plants they will soon die away.(D)
3 Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land(E) and enjoy safe pasture.(F)
4 Take delight(G) in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.(H)
5 Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him(I) and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteous reward(J) shine like the dawn,(K)
your vindication like the noonday sun.
7 Be still(L) before the Lord
and wait patiently(M) for him;
do not fret(N) when people succeed in their ways,(O)
when they carry out their wicked schemes.(P)
8 Refrain from anger(Q) and turn from wrath;
do not fret(R)—it leads only to evil.
9 For those who are evil will be destroyed,(S)
but those who hope(T) in the Lord will inherit the land.(U)
10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more;(V)
though you look for them, they will not be found.
11 But the meek will inherit the land(W)
and enjoy peace and prosperity.(X)
12 The wicked plot(Y) against the righteous
and gnash their teeth(Z) at them;
13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked,
for he knows their day is coming.(AA)
14 The wicked draw the sword(AB)
and bend the bow(AC)
to bring down the poor and needy,(AD)
to slay those whose ways are upright.
15 But their swords will pierce their own hearts,(AE)
and their bows will be broken.(AF)
16 Better the little that the righteous have
than the wealth(AG) of many wicked;
17 for the power of the wicked will be broken,(AH)
but the Lord upholds(AI) the righteous.
18 The blameless spend their days under the Lord’s care,(AJ)
and their inheritance will endure forever.(AK)
19 In times of disaster they will not wither;
in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.
20 But the wicked will perish:(AL)
Though the Lord’s enemies are like the flowers of the field,
they will be consumed, they will go up in smoke.(AM)
21 The wicked borrow and do not repay,
but the righteous give generously;(AN)
22 those the Lord blesses will inherit the land,
but those he curses(AO) will be destroyed.(AP)
23 The Lord makes firm the steps(AQ)
of the one who delights(AR) in him;
24 though he may stumble, he will not fall,(AS)
for the Lord upholds(AT) him with his hand.
25 I was young and now I am old,
yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken(AU)
or their children begging(AV) bread.
26 They are always generous and lend freely;(AW)
their children will be a blessing.[b](AX)
27 Turn from evil and do good;(AY)
then you will dwell in the land forever.(AZ)
28 For the Lord loves the just
and will not forsake his faithful ones.(BA)
Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed[c];
the offspring of the wicked will perish.(BB)
29 The righteous will inherit the land(BC)
and dwell in it forever.(BD)
30 The mouths of the righteous utter wisdom,(BE)
and their tongues speak what is just.
31 The law of their God is in their hearts;(BF)
their feet do not slip.(BG)
32 The wicked lie in wait(BH) for the righteous,(BI)
intent on putting them to death;
33 but the Lord will not leave them in the power of the wicked
or let them be condemned(BJ) when brought to trial.(BK)
34 Hope in the Lord(BL)
and keep his way.(BM)
He will exalt you to inherit the land;
when the wicked are destroyed,(BN) you will see(BO) it.
35 I have seen a wicked and ruthless man
flourishing(BP) like a luxuriant native tree,
36 but he soon passed away and was no more;
though I looked for him, he could not be found.(BQ)
