Salmo de Davi, quando mudou o seu semblante perante Abimeleque, que o expulsou, e ele se foi
34 Louvarei ao Senhor em todo o tempo; o seu louvor estará continuamente na minha boca. 2 A minha alma se gloriará no Senhor; os mansos o ouvirão e se alegrarão. 3 Engrandecei ao Senhor comigo, e juntos exaltemos o seu nome.
4 Busquei ao Senhor, e ele me respondeu; livrou-me de todos os meus temores. 5 Olharam para ele, e foram iluminados; e os seus rostos não ficarão confundidos. 6 Clamou este pobre, e o Senhor o ouviu; e o salvou de todas as suas angústias. 7 O anjo do Senhor acampa-se ao redor dos que o temem, e os livra. 8 Provai e vede que o Senhor é bom; bem-aventurado o homem que nele confia. 9 Temei ao Senhor, vós os seus santos, pois não têm falta alguma aqueles que o temem. 10 Os filhos dos leões necessitam e sofrem fome, mas aqueles que buscam ao Senhor de nada têm falta.
11 Vinde, meninos, ouvi-me; eu vos ensinarei o temor do Senhor. 12 Quem é o homem que deseja a vida, que quer largos dias para ver o bem? 13 Guarda a tua língua do mal e os teus lábios, de falarem enganosamente. 14 Aparta-te do mal e faze o bem; procura a paz e segue-a.
15 Os olhos do Senhor estão sobre os justos; e os seus ouvidos, atentos ao seu clamor. 16 A face do Senhor está contra os que fazem o mal, para desarraigar da terra a memória deles. 17 Os justos clamam, e o Senhor os ouve e os livra de todas as suas angústias. 18 Perto está o Senhor dos que têm o coração quebrantado e salva os contritos de espírito.
19 Muitas são as aflições do justo, mas o Senhor o livra de todas. 20 Ele lhe guarda todos os seus ossos; nem sequer um deles se quebra. 21 A malícia matará o ímpio, e os que aborrecem o justo serão punidos. 22 O Senhor resgata a alma dos seus servos, e nenhum dos que nele confiam será condenado.

34 Louvarei o Senhor em todo o tempo;
meus lábios sempre o louvarão.
2 Somente no Senhor me gloriarei;
que todos os humildes se alegrem.
3 Venham, proclamemos a grandeza do Senhor;
juntos, exaltemos o seu nome.
4 Busquei o Senhor, e ele me respondeu;
livrou-me de todos os meus temores.
5 Os que olham para ele ficarão radiantes;
no rosto deles não haverá sombra de decepção.
6 Clamei ao Senhor em meu desespero, e ele me ouviu;
livrou-me de todas as minhas angústias.
7 O anjo do Senhor é guardião;
ele cerca e defende os que o temem.
8 Provem e vejam que o Senhor é bom!
Como é feliz o que nele se refugia!
9 Temam o Senhor, vocês que lhe são fiéis,
pois os que o temem terão tudo de que precisam.
10 Até mesmo os leões jovens e fortes passam fome,
mas aos que buscam o Senhor nada de bom faltará.
11 Venham, meus filhos, e ouçam-me;
eu os ensinarei a temer o Senhor.
12 Quem deseja ter uma vida
longa e próspera?
13 Refreie a língua de falar maldades
e os lábios de dizerem mentiras.
14 Afaste-se do mal e faça o bem;
busque a paz e esforce-se para mantê-la.
15 Os olhos do Senhor estão sobre os justos,
e seus ouvidos, abertos para seus clamores.
16 O Senhor, porém, volta o rosto contra os que praticam o mal;
apagará da terra qualquer lembrança deles.
17 O Senhor ouve os justos quando clamam por socorro;
ele os livra de todas as suas angústias.
18 O Senhor está perto dos que têm o coração quebrantado
e resgata os de espírito oprimido.
19 O justo enfrenta muitas dificuldades,
mas o Senhor o livra de todas elas.
20 Pois o Senhor protege os ossos do justo;
nem um sequer será quebrado.
21 A calamidade certamente destruirá os perversos,
e os que odeiam o justo serão castigados.
22 O Senhor, porém, resgatará os que o servem;
ninguém que nele se refugia será condenado.

Salmo de Davi, quando ele fingiu estar maluco e Abimeleque o mandou embora.
34 Louvarei o SENHOR em todo momento,
terei sempre um cântico de louvor na minha boca.
2 O SENHOR é a glória da minha vida!
Os necessitados que ouçam e se alegrem!
3 Exaltem o SENHOR comigo!
Louvemos o seu nome juntos!
4 Eu pedi ajuda ao SENHOR e ele me respondeu,
ele me salvou de todos os meus medos.
5 Aqueles que olharem para ele ficarão radiantes de alegria,
nunca ficarão desiludidos.
6 Eu estava aflito, pedi ajuda ao SENHOR,
e ele escutou e me livrou de todos os meus perigos.
7 O anjo do SENHOR acampa ao redor dos que o temem
e proteção recebem de todo perigo.
8 Provem, vejam como o SENHOR é bom!
Feliz é aquele que se protege nele.
9 Temam ao SENHOR, vocês que são os seus santos,
porque nada falta aos que o temem.
10 Até os mais ricos[a] passam fome, porque lhes falta comida.
Mas nada faltará àqueles que procuram a ajuda do SENHOR.
11 Venham, meus filhos, escutem.
Eu lhes ensinarei a temer o SENHOR.
12 Quem ama a vida
e deseja ter uma vida feliz,
13 tenha cuidado para não falar mal de ninguém
e para não mentir.
14 Afaste-se do mal e faça o bem;
procure a paz e não desista até alcançá-la.
15 O SENHOR cuida dos justos
e ouve as suas orações.
16 Mas o SENHOR se opõe aos injustos;
eles morrem e serão esquecidos imediatamente.
17 Os justos oram ao SENHOR e serão ouvidos.
Ele os salvará de todos os perigos.
18 O SENHOR está pronto para ajudar os que sofrem,
ele salva os que perderam a esperança.
19 Se alguém é justo, pode passar por muitas dificuldades,
mas o SENHOR o livra de todas elas.
20 Ele o protege completamente;
nenhum dos seus ossos será quebrado.
21 Os maus serão destruídos pela sua própria maldade,
os inimigos dos justos serão castigados.
22 O SENHOR protege a vida dos seus servos,
e os que procuram a sua proteção não serão condenados.

The Lord, a Provider and the One Who Rescues Me.
A Psalm of David; when he pretended to be insane before Abimelech, who drove him out, and he went away.
34 I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2
My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
The humble and downtrodden will hear it and rejoice.
3
O [a]magnify the Lord with me,
And let us lift up His name together.
4
I sought the Lord [on the authority of His word], and He answered me,
And delivered me from all my fears.(A)
5
They looked to Him and were radiant;
Their faces will never blush in shame or confusion.
6
This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him
And saved him from all his troubles.
7
The [b]angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him [with awe-inspired reverence and worship Him with obedience],
And He rescues [each of] them.(B)
8
O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good;
How blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who takes refuge in Him.(C)
9
O [reverently] fear the Lord, you His saints (believers, holy ones);
For to those who fear Him there is no want.
10
The young lions lack [food] and grow hungry,
But they who seek the Lord will not lack any good thing.
11
Come, you children, listen to me;
I will teach you to fear the Lord [with awe-inspired reverence and worship Him with obedience].
12
Who is the man who desires life
And loves many days, that he may see good?
13
Keep your tongue from evil
And your lips from speaking deceit.
14
Turn away from evil and do good;
Seek peace and pursue it.
15
The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous [those with moral courage and spiritual integrity]
And His ears are open to their cry.
16
The face of the Lord is against those who do evil,
To cut off the memory of them from the earth.(D)
17
When the righteous cry [for help], the Lord hears
And rescues them from all their distress and troubles.
18
The Lord is near to the heartbroken
And He saves those who are crushed in spirit (contrite in heart, truly sorry for their sin).
19
Many hardships and perplexing circumstances confront the righteous,
But the Lord rescues him from them all.
20
He keeps all his bones;
Not one of them is broken.(E)
21
Evil will cause the death of the wicked,
And those who hate the righteous will be held guilty and will be condemned.
22
The Lord redeems the soul of His servants,
And none of those who take refuge in Him will be condemned.

- Psalm 34:3 The ancient rabbis applied this verse specifically to the saying of grace after a meal and instituted the practice of zimmum (“invitation”) as a religious duty for three or more men who had eaten together. They were to invite one another to say the blessing. One then said the blessing and the others were required to say “Amen” in voices no louder than that of the speaker of the blessing, based on the word together. It was also taught that all the participants in the blessing receive a reward from God.

Of David. When he pretended to be insane(A) before Abimelek, who drove him away, and he left.
1 I will extol the Lord at all times;(B)
his praise will always be on my lips.
2 I will glory(C) in the Lord;
let the afflicted hear and rejoice.(D)
3 Glorify the Lord(E) with me;
let us exalt(F) his name together.
4 I sought the Lord,(G) and he answered me;
he delivered(H) me from all my fears.
5 Those who look to him are radiant;(I)
their faces are never covered with shame.(J)
6 This poor man called, and the Lord heard him;
he saved him out of all his troubles.(K)
7 The angel of the Lord(L) encamps around those who fear him,
and he delivers(M) them.
8 Taste and see that the Lord is good;(N)
blessed is the one who takes refuge(O) in him.
9 Fear the Lord,(P) you his holy people,
