Salmo de David.
29 Tributad al Señor, seres celestiales,[a]
tributad al Señor la gloria y el poder.
2 Tributad al Señor la gloria que merece su nombre;
postraos ante el Señor en su santuario majestuoso.
3 La voz del Señor está sobre las aguas;
resuena el trueno del Dios de la gloria;
el Señor está sobre las aguas impetuosas.
4 La voz del Señor resuena potente;
la voz del Señor resuena majestuosa.
5 La voz del Señor desgaja los cedros,
desgaja el Señor los cedros del Líbano;
6 hace que el Líbano salte como becerro,
y que el Hermón[b] salte cual toro salvaje.
7 La voz del Señor lanza ráfagas de fuego;
8 la voz del Señor sacude el desierto;
el Señor sacude el desierto de Cades.
9 La voz del Señor retuerce los robles[c]
y deja desnudos los bosques;
en su templo todos gritan: «¡Gloria!»
10 El Señor tiene su trono sobre las lluvias;
el Señor reina por siempre.
11 El Señor fortalece a su pueblo;
el Señor bendice a su pueblo con la paz.

The Voice of the Lord in the Storm.
A Psalm of David.
29 [a]Ascribe to the Lord, O [b]sons of the mighty,
Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.

Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name;
Worship the Lord in the beauty and majesty of His holiness [as the creator and source of holiness].

The voice of the Lord is upon the waters;
The God of glory thunders;
The Lord is over many waters.

The voice of the Lord is powerful;
The voice of the Lord is full of majesty.
5
The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
Yes, the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.
6
He makes Lebanon skip like a calf,
And Sirion (Mount Hermon) like a young, wild ox.

The voice of the Lord rakes flames of fire (lightning).
8
The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness;
The Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
9
The voice of the Lord [c]makes the doe labor and give birth
And strips the forests bare;
And in His temple all are saying, “Glory!”
10
The Lord sat as King at the flood;
Yes, the Lord sits as King forever.
11
The Lord will give [unyielding and impenetrable] strength to His people;
The Lord will bless His people with peace.

- Psalm 29:1 This psalm has been called “The Song of the Thunderstorm,” a glorious psalm of praise sung during an earthshaking tempest which reminds the psalmist of the time of Noah and the deluge (see v 10).
- Psalm 29:1 The ancient rabbis interpreted this as referring to the patriarchs. Today many scholars regard this as a reference to God’s angels.
- Psalm 29:9 Or makes the oaks shake.
