Salmo de David.

29 Tributad al Señor, seres celestiales,[a]
    tributad al Señor la gloria y el poder.
Tributad al Señor la gloria que merece su nombre;
    postraos ante el Señor en su santuario majestuoso.

La voz del Señor está sobre las aguas;
    resuena el trueno del Dios de la gloria;
    el Señor está sobre las aguas impetuosas.
La voz del Señor resuena potente;
    la voz del Señor resuena majestuosa.
La voz del Señor desgaja los cedros,
    desgaja el Señor los cedros del Líbano;
hace que el Líbano salte como becerro,
    y que el Hermón[b] salte cual toro salvaje.
La voz del Señor lanza ráfagas de fuego;
    la voz del Señor sacude el desierto;
    el Señor sacude el desierto de Cades.
La voz del Señor retuerce los robles[c]
    y deja desnudos los bosques;
    en su templo todos gritan: «¡Gloria!»

10 El Señor tiene su trono sobre las lluvias;
    el Señor reina por siempre.
11 El Señor fortalece a su pueblo;
    el Señor bendice a su pueblo con la paz.

The Voice of the Lord in the Storm.

A Psalm of David.

29 [a]Ascribe to the Lord, O [b]sons of the mighty,
Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.

Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name;
Worship the Lord in the beauty and majesty of His holiness [as the creator and source of holiness].

The voice of the Lord is upon the waters;
The God of glory thunders;
The Lord is over many waters.

The voice of the Lord is powerful;
The voice of the Lord is full of majesty.

The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
Yes, the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.

He makes Lebanon skip like a calf,
And Sirion (Mount Hermon) like a young, wild ox.

The voice of the Lord rakes flames of fire (lightning).

The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness;
The Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.

The voice of the Lord [c]makes the doe labor and give birth
And strips the forests bare;
And in His temple all are saying, “Glory!”

10
The Lord sat as King at the flood;
Yes, the Lord sits as King forever.
11
The Lord will give [unyielding and impenetrable] strength to His people;
The Lord will bless His people with peace.

  1. Psalm 29:1 This psalm has been called “The Song of the Thunderstorm,” a glorious psalm of praise sung during an earthshaking tempest which reminds the psalmist of the time of Noah and the deluge (see v 10).
  2. Psalm 29:1 The ancient rabbis interpreted this as referring to the patriarchs. Today many scholars regard this as a reference to God’s angels.
  3. Psalm 29:9 Or makes the oaks shake.

29 Give unto the Lord, O ye mighty, give unto the Lord glory and strength.

Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

The voice of the Lord is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the Lord is upon many waters.

The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.

The voice of the Lord breaketh the cedars; yea, the Lord breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.

He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.

The voice of the Lord divideth the flames of fire.

The voice of the Lord shaketh the wilderness; the Lord shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh.

The voice of the Lord maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory.

10 The Lord sitteth upon the flood; yea, the Lord sitteth King for ever.

11 The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.
