22 Dios mío, Dios mío, ¿por qué me has abandonado(A)?
¿Por qué estás tan lejos de mi salvación[b](B) y de[c] las palabras de mi clamor[d](C)?
2 Dios mío, de día clamo y no respondes(D);
y de noche, pero no hay para mí reposo[e].
3 Sin embargo, tú eres santo(E),
que habitas entre las alabanzas de Israel(F).
4 En ti confiaron nuestros padres(G);
confiaron, y tú los libraste(H).
5 A ti clamaron, y fueron librados;
en ti confiaron, y no fueron decepcionados[f](I).
6 Pero yo soy gusano(J), y no hombre;
oprobio de los hombres(K), y despreciado del pueblo(L).
7 Todos los que me ven, de mí se burlan(M);
hacen muecas[g] con los labios, menean la cabeza(N), diciendo:
8 Que se encomiende[h] al Señor; que Él lo libre,
que Él lo rescate, puesto que en Él se deleita(O).
9 Porque tú me sacaste del seno materno;
me hiciste confiar desde[i] los pechos de mi madre(P).
10 A ti fui entregado[j] desde mi nacimiento[k];
desde el vientre de mi madre tú eres mi Dios(Q).
11 No estés lejos de mí(R), porque la angustia está cerca,
pues no hay quien ayude(S).
12 Muchos toros me han rodeado(T);
toros fuertes de Basán(U) me han cercado.
13 Avidos abren su boca contra mí(V),
como león rapaz y rugiente(W).
14 Soy derramado como agua(X),
y todos mis huesos están descoyuntados(Y);
mi corazón es como cera(Z);
se derrite en medio de mis entrañas.
15 Como un tiesto se ha secado mi vigor(AA),
y la lengua se me pega al paladar[l](AB),
y me has puesto en el polvo de la muerte(AC).
16 Porque perros me han rodeado(AD);
me ha cercado cuadrilla[m] de malhechores;
me horadaron las manos y los pies[n](AE).
17 Puedo contar todos mis huesos.
Ellos me miran, me observan(AF);
18 reparten mis vestidos entre sí,
y sobre mi ropa echan suertes(AG).
19 Pero tú, oh Señor, no estés lejos(AH);
fuerza mía, apresúrate a socorrerme(AI).
20 Libra mi alma[o] de la espada(AJ),
mi única vida de las garras del perro(AK).
21 Sálvame de la boca del león(AL)
y de los cuernos de los búfalos(AM); respóndeme[p](AN).
22 Hablaré de tu nombre a mis hermanos;
en medio de la congregación te alabaré(AO).
23 Los que teméis al Señor, alabadle(AP);
descendencia[q] toda de Jacob, glorificadle(AQ),
temedle[r](AR), descendencia[s] toda de Israel.
24 Porque Él no ha despreciado ni aborrecido la aflicción del angustiado(AS),
ni le ha escondido su rostro(AT);
sino que cuando clamó al Señor[t], lo escuchó(AU).
25 De ti viene mi alabanza en la gran congregación(AV);
mis votos cumpliré delante de los que le temen(AW).
26 Los pobres[u] comerán y se saciarán(AX);
los que buscan al Señor, le alabarán(AY).
¡Viva vuestro corazón para siempre(AZ)!
27 Todos los términos de la tierra(BA) se acordarán y se volverán al Señor,
y todas las familias de las naciones adorarán delante de ti[v](BB).
28 Porque del Señor es el reino(BC),
y Él gobierna las naciones(BD).
29 Todos los grandes[w] de la tierra comerán y adorarán(BE);
se postrarán ante Él todos los que descienden al polvo(BF),
aun aquel que no puede conservar[x] viva su alma(BG).
30 La posteridad[y] le servirá(BH);
esto se dirá del Señor hasta la generación(BI) venidera.
31 Vendrán y anunciarán su justicia(BJ);
a un pueblo por nacer(BK), anunciarán que Él ha hecho esto.

22 Dios mío, Dios mío,
¿por qué me has abandonado?
¿Por qué estás lejos para salvarme,
tan lejos de mis gritos de angustia?
2 Dios mío, clamo de día y no me respondes;
clamo de noche y no hallo reposo.
3 Pero tú eres santo y te sientas en tu trono;
habitas en la alabanza de Israel.
4 En ti confiaron nuestros antepasados;
confiaron, y tú los libraste;
5 a ti clamaron y tú los salvaste;
se apoyaron en ti y no los defraudaste.
6 Pero yo, gusano soy y no hombre;
la gente se burla de mí,
el pueblo me desprecia.
7 Cuantos me ven se ríen de mí;
lanzan insultos, meneando la cabeza:
8 «Este confía en el Señor,
¡pues que el Señor lo ponga a salvo!
Ya que en él se deleita,
¡que sea él quien lo libre!».
9 Pero tú me sacaste del vientre materno;
me hiciste reposar confiado en el regazo de mi madre.
10 Fui puesto a tu cuidado desde antes de nacer;
desde el vientre de mi madre mi Dios eres tú.
11 No te alejes de mí,
porque la angustia está cerca
y no hay nadie que me ayude.
12 Muchos toros me rodean;
fuertes toros de Basán me cercan.
13 Contra mí abren sus fauces
leones que rugen y desgarran a su presa.
14 Como agua he sido derramado;
dislocados están todos mis huesos.
Mi corazón se ha vuelto como cera
y se derrite en mis entrañas.
15 Se ha secado mi vigor como la arcilla;
la lengua se me pega al paladar.
Me has hundido en el polvo de la muerte.
16 Como perros me han rodeado;
me ha cercado una banda de malvados;
me han traspasado[a] las manos y los pies.
17 Puedo contar todos mis huesos;
con satisfacción perversa la gente se detiene a mirarme.
18 Se repartieron entre ellos mi manto
y sobre mi ropa echaron suertes.
19 Pero tú, Señor, no te alejes;
fuerza mía, ven pronto en mi auxilio.
20 Libra mi vida de la espada,
mi preciosa vida del poder de esos perros.
21 Rescátame de la boca de los leones;
sálvame de[b] los cuernos de los toros salvajes.
22 Proclamaré tu nombre a mis hermanos;
en medio de la congregación te alabaré.
23 ¡Alaben al Señor los que le temen!
¡Hónrenlo, descendientes de Jacob!
¡Venérenlo, descendientes de Israel!
24 Porque él no desprecia ni tiene en poco
el sufrimiento del pobre;
no esconde de él su rostro,
sino que lo escucha cuando a él clama.
25 Tú inspiras mi alabanza en la gran asamblea;
ante los que te temen cumpliré mis promesas.
26 Comerán los pobres y se saciarán;
alabarán al Señor quienes lo buscan;
¡que su corazón viva para siempre!
27 Se acordarán del Señor y se volverán a él
todos los confines de la tierra;
ante él se postrarán
todas las familias de las naciones,
28 porque del Señor es el reino;
él gobierna sobre las naciones.
29 Festejarán y adorarán todos los ricos de la tierra;
ante él se postrarán todos los que bajan al polvo,
los que no pueden conservar su vida.
30 La posteridad le servirá;
del Señor se hablará a las generaciones futuras.
31 A un pueblo que aún no ha nacido
se le dirá que Dios hizo justicia.

22 Dios mío, Dios mío,
¿por qué me has abandonado?
¡Tan lejos te mantienes
que no vienes en mi ayuda
ni escuchas mis gritos de dolor!
2 Dios mío,
te llamo de día,
y no me escuchas;
te llamo de noche,
y no me respondes.
3 Entre los dioses
tú eres único,
tú eres rey,
tú mereces que Israel te alabe.
4 Nuestros padres confiaron en ti;
en ti confiaron, y tú los libraste;
5 te pidieron ayuda, y los salvaste;
en ti confiaron, y no les fallaste.
6 En cambio yo,
más que hombre parezco un gusano.
Soy la burla de hombres y mujeres;
todo el mundo me desprecia.
7 Todos los que me ven,
se ríen de mí,
y en son de burla
tuercen la boca y mueven la cabeza.
8 Hasta dicen:
«Ya que éste confió en Dios,
¡que venga Dios a salvarlo!
Ya que Dios tanto lo quiere,

9 Pero digan lo que digan,
fuiste tú quien me hizo nacer;
fuiste tú quien me hizo descansar
en los brazos de mi madre.
10 Todavía no había nacido yo,
cuando tú ya me cuidabas.
Aún estaba yo dentro de mi madre,
cuando tú ya eras mi Dios.
11 ¡No me dejes solo!
¡Me encuentro muy angustiado,
y nadie me brinda su ayuda!
12 Me rodean mis enemigos,
parecen toros bravos de Basán.[a]
13 Parecen leones feroces,
que se lanzan contra mí
con ganas de despedazarme.
14 Me he quedado sin fuerzas,
¡estoy totalmente deshecho!
¡Mi corazón ha quedado
como cera derretida!
15 Tengo reseca la garganta,
y pegada la lengua al paladar;
me dejaste tirado en el suelo,
como si ya estuviera muerto.
16 Una banda de malvados,
que parece manada de perros,
me rodea por todos lados
y me desgarra pies y manos,
17 ¡hasta puedo verme los huesos!
Mis enemigos me vigilan sin cesar,
18 hicieron un sorteo
para ver quién se queda con mi ropa.
19 Dios mío, tú eres mi apoyo,
¡no me dejes!
¡Ven pronto en mi ayuda!
20-21 ¡Respóndeme, sálvame la vida!
¡No dejes que me maten!
¡No dejes que me despedacen!
Mis enemigos parecen perros,
parecen toros que quieren atacarme,
parecen leones que quieren devorarme.
22 Cuando mi pueblo se junte
para adorarte en el templo,
yo les hablaré de ti,
y te cantaré alabanzas.
23 Ustedes, pueblo de Israel,
que saben honrar a Dios,
¡reconozcan su poder y adórenlo!
24 Dios recibe a los pobres
con los brazos abiertos.
Dios no les vuelve la espalda,
sino que atiende sus ruegos.
25 Dios mío, sólo a ti te alabaré;
te cumpliré mis promesas
cuando el pueblo que te honra
se reúna para alabarte.
26 Los pobres comerán
y quedarán satisfechos;
los que te buscan, Dios mío,
te cantarán alabanzas.
¡Dales larga vida!
27 Dios mío,
desde países lejanos,
todas las tribus y naciones
se acordarán de ti
y vendrán a adorarte.
28 Tú eres rey
y gobiernas a todas las naciones.
29 Nadie es dueño de su vida.
Por eso los que habitan este mundo,
y los que están a punto de morir
se inclinarán ante ti,
y harán fiestas en tu honor.
30 Mis hijos te rendirán culto;

sabrán que tú eres justo

22 1 David complained because he was brought into such extremities that he was past all hope, but after he had rehearsed the sorrows and griefs, wherewith he was vexed. 10 He recovereth himself from the bottomless pit of tentations, and groweth in hope. And here under his own person he setteth forth the figure of Christ, whom he did foresee by the spirit of prophecy, that he should marvelously, and strangely be rejected, and abased, before his Father should raise and exalt him again.
To him that excelleth upon [a]Aijeleth Hashahar. A Psalm of David.
1 My [b]God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me, and art so far from mine health, and from the words of my [c]roaring?
2 O my God, I cry by day, but thou hearest not: and by night, but [d]have no audience.
3 But thou art holy, and dost inhabit the [e]praises of Israel.
4 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.
5 They called upon thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.
6 But I am a [f]worm, and not a man: a shame of men, and the contempt of the people.
7 All they that see me, have me in derision: they make a mow and nod the head, saying,
8 [g](A)He trusted in the Lord, let him deliver him: let him save him, seeing he loveth him.
9 But thou didst draw me out of the [h]womb: thou gavest me hope, even at my mother’s breasts.
10 I was cast upon thee, even from the [i]womb: thou art my God from my mother’s belly.
11 Be not far from me, because trouble is near: for there is none to help me.
12 Many young bulls have compassed me: mighty [j]bulls of Bashan have closed me about.
13 They gape upon me with their mouths, as a ramping and roaring lion.
14 I am like [k]water poured out, and all my bones are out of joint: mine heart is like wax: it is molten in the midst of my bowels.
15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws, and thou [l]hast brought me into the dust of death.
16 For dogs have compassed me, and the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they [m]pierced mine hands and my feet.
17 I may tell all my bones, yet they behold, and look upon me.
18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.
19 But be not thou far off, O Lord, my strength: hasten to help me.
20 Deliver my soul from the sword: my [n]desolate soul from the power of the dog.
21 [o]Save me from the lion’s mouth, and answer me in saving me from the horns of the unicorns.
22 (B)I will declare thy Name unto my brethren: in the midst of the Congregation will I praise thee, saying,
23 [p]Praise the Lord, ye that fear him: magnify ye him, all the seed of Jacob, and fear ye him all the seed of Israel.
24 For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the [q]poor: neither hath he hid his face from him, but when he called unto him, he heard.
25 My praise shall be of thee in the great Congregation: my [r]vows will I perform before them that fear him.
26 [s]The poor shall eat and be satisfied: they that seek after the Lord, shall praise him: your heart shall live forever.
27 All the ends of the world shall remember themselves and turn to the Lord, and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.
28 For the kingdom is the Lord’s, and he ruleth among the nations.
29 All they that be fat [t]in the earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down into the dust, shall bow before him, [u]even he that cannot quicken his own soul.
30 [v]Their seed shall serve him: it shall be counted unto the Lord for a generation.
31 They shall come and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, because he hath [w]done it.

- Psalm 22:16 Thus David complaineth as though he were nailed by his enemies both hands and feet: but this was accomplished in Christ.
- Psalm 22:20 My life that is solitary, left alone and forsaken of all, Ps. 35:17 and 25:16.
- Psalm 22:21 Christ is delivered with a more mighty deliverance by overcoming death, than if he had not tasted death at all.
- Psalm 22:23 He promiseth to exhort the Church that they by his example might praise the Lord.
- Psalm 22:24 The poor afflicted are comforted by this example of David, or Christ.
- Psalm 22:25 Which were sacrifices of thanksgiving, which they offered by God’s commandment, when they were delivered out of any great danger.
- Psalm 22:26 He doth allude still to the sacrifice.
- Psalm 22:29 Though the poor be first named, as verse 26, yet the wealthy are not separated from the grace of Christ’s kingdom.
- Psalm 22:29 In whom there is no hope that he shall recover life: so neither poor nor rich, quick nor dead shall be rejected from his kingdom.
- Psalm 22:30 Meaning, the prosperity, which the Lord keepeth as a seed to the Church to continue his praise among men.
- Psalm 22:31 That is, God hath fulfilled his promise.
