O Senhor e o seu escolhido
2 Por que se revoltam as nações
e por que os povos fazem planos fúteis?
2 Juntam-se os reis da terra e os governantes
para lutar contra o SENHOR e contra o seu rei escolhido[a].
3 Eles dizem: “Cortemos as cordas que nos prendem
e fiquemos livres das suas correntes!”
4 Mas aquele que está no céu se ri deles,
o SENHOR zomba dos seus planos.
5 Então, furioso, enche-os de medo,
e irritado, fala para eles:
6 “Fui eu mesmo que consagrei este homem
para ser o meu rei em Jerusalém[b], o meu monte santo”.
7 E o rei escolhido diz: “Proclamarei o decreto do SENHOR,
ele me disse: ‘Você é o meu filho! Hoje me tornei seu pai![c]
8 Peça-me e lhe darei as nações por herança,
o mundo inteiro será seu.
9 Você poderá quebrá-las com o seu cetro de ferro
e deixá-las em pedaços como se fossem um vaso de barro’”.
10 Por isso, ó reis e governantes da terra,
sejam sábios e prestem atenção ao meu aviso.
11 Obedeçam ao SENHOR com temor e respeito.
Adorem-no com alegria.
12 Beijem o filho[d] para que ele não se irrite e vocês não sejam destruídos,
pois é fácil provocar a sua ira.
Felizes são aqueles que procuram a sua proteção!

2 Varför gör folken uppror mot Herren? Och varför smider de planer, som inte leder någonstans?
2 De som har makten här i världen har kommit överens om att göra uppror mot Herren och hans Messias - den verklige makthavaren.
3 Kom, låt oss kasta av oss hans bojor, säger de, och befria oss från detta slaveri under Gud.
4 Men Gud i himlen ler! Han driver med dem och alla deras ynkliga planer.
5 Sedan varnar han dem och hans vrede skrämmer dem.
6 Han säger: Detta är den kung som jag har utvalt, och jag har själv satt honom på tronen i min heliga stad, Jerusalem.
7 Och kungen svarar: Jag ska göra det känt vad Gud har beslutat, för Herren har sagt till mig: 'Du är nu min son, och idag har jag blivit din Far.
8 Bara begär av mig och jag ska ge dig alla folk i hela världen.
9 Regera över dem med järnhand, ja, slå sönder dem som lerkrukor!'
10 Ni kungar och härskare på jorden, ta ert förnuft till fånga och lyssna innan det är för sent!
11 Underordna er Herren och erkänn hans makt. Gläd er även om ni bävar!
12 Fall ner inför hans son, innan hans vrede uppväcks och ni förgås! Jag varnar er - hans vrede kan snart upptändas. Men vilken glädje det blir för dem som söker skydd hos honom!

1 Why do the nations conspire[a]
and the peoples plot(A) in vain?
2 The kings(B) of the earth rise up
and the rulers band together
against the Lord and against his anointed,(C) saying,
3 “Let us break their chains(D)
and throw off their shackles.”(E)
4 The One enthroned(F) in heaven laughs;(G)
the Lord scoffs at them.
5 He rebukes them in his anger(H)
and terrifies them in his wrath,(I) saying,
6 “I have installed my king(J)
on Zion,(K) my holy mountain.(L)”
7 I will proclaim the Lord’s decree:
He said to me, “You are my son;(M)
today I have become your father.(N)
8 Ask me,
and I will make the nations(O) your inheritance,(P)
the ends of the earth(Q) your possession.
9 You will break them with a rod of iron[b];(R)
you will dash them to pieces(S) like pottery.(T)”
10 Therefore, you kings, be wise;(U)
be warned, you rulers(V) of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear(W)
and celebrate his rule(X) with trembling.(Y)
12 Kiss his son,(Z) or he will be angry
and your way will lead to your destruction,
for his wrath(AA) can flare up in a moment.
Blessed(AB) are all who take refuge(AC) in him.

2 Why (B)do the [a]nations [b]rage,
And the people plot a [c]vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves,
And the (C)rulers take counsel together,
Against the Lord and against His (D)Anointed,[d] saying,
3 “Let (E)us break Their bonds in pieces
And cast away Their cords from us.”
4 He who sits in the heavens (F)shall laugh;
The Lord shall hold them in derision.
5 Then He shall speak to them in His wrath,
And distress them in His deep displeasure:
6 “Yet I have [e]set My King
[f]On My holy hill of Zion.”
7 “I will declare the [g]decree:
The Lord has said to Me,
(G)‘You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.
8 Ask of Me, and I will give You
The nations for Your inheritance,
And the ends of the earth for Your possession.
9 (H)You shall [h]break them with a rod of iron;
You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’ ”
10 Now therefore, be wise, O kings;
Be instructed, you judges of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear,
And rejoice with trembling.
12 [i]Kiss the Son, lest [j]He be angry,
And you perish in the way,
When (I)His wrath is kindled but a little.
(J)Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.
