13 ¿Hasta cuándo, Señor?
¿Hasta cuándo me ocultarás tu rostro?
¿Te olvidarás de mí para siempre?
2 ¿Hasta cuándo debo estar angustiado,
y andar triste todo el día?
¿Hasta cuándo mi adversario me dominará?
3 Señor y Dios mío, mírame y respóndeme;
ilumina mis ojos, y manténme con vida.
4 Que no diga mi adversario que logró vencerme.
¡Se burlará de mí si acaso caigo!
5 Yo confío en tu misericordia;
mi corazón se alegra en tu salvación.
6 Te cantaré salmos, Señor,
porque tú siempre buscas mi bien.

13 (2) Señor,
¿hasta cuándo me olvidarás?
¿Me olvidarás para siempre?
¿Hasta cuándo te esconderás de mí?
2 (3) ¿Hasta cuándo mi alma y mi corazón
habrán de sufrir y estar tristes todo el día?
¿Hasta cuándo habré de estar sometido al enemigo?
3 (4) Señor, Dios mío,
¡mírame, respóndeme, llena mis ojos de luz!
¡Que no caiga yo en el sueño de la muerte!
4 (5) ¡Que no diga mi enemigo: «Lo he vencido»!
¡Que no se alegre si yo fracaso!

5 (6a) Yo confío en tu amor;
mi corazón se alegra porque tú me salvas.
6 (6b) ¡Cantaré al Señor por el bien que me ha hecho!

A Prayer for God to Be Near

For the director of music. A psalm of David.

13 How long will you forget me, Lord? Forever?
    How long will you hide your face from me?
2 How long must I ·worry [or bear pain; L hold counsels]
    and ·feel sad [hold sorrow] in my heart all day?
How long will my enemy ·win [rise up] over me?

3 Lord, look at me.
    Answer me, my God;
    ·tell me [L light up my eyes], or I will ·die [L sleep the sleep of death].
4 Otherwise my enemy will say, “I have ·won [finished him off]!”
    ·Those against me [My foes] will rejoice that I’ve been ·defeated [shaken; moved].

5 I ·trust [have confidence] in your ·love [loyalty; covenant love].
    My heart ·is happy [rejoices] because ·you saved me [of your victory/salvation].
6 I sing to the Lord
    because he has ·taken care of [been good to] me.

1 How long,(A) Lord? Will you forget me(B) forever?
    How long will you hide your face(C) from me?
2 How long must I wrestle with my thoughts(D)
    and day after day have sorrow in my heart?
    How long will my enemy triumph over me?(E)

3 Look on me(F) and answer,(G) Lord my God.
    Give light to my eyes,(H) or I will sleep in death,(I)
4 and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,(J)”
    and my foes will rejoice when I fall.(K)

5 But I trust in your unfailing love;(L)
    my heart rejoices in your salvation.(M)
6 I will sing(N) the Lord’s praise,
    for he has been good to me.
