Salmo 105 (104)
Él es el Señor Dios nuestro
105 Alaben al Señor, aclamen su nombre,
proclamen entre los pueblos sus hazañas.
2 Cántenle, toquen para él,
pregonen todas sus maravillas.
3 Enorgullézcanse de su santo nombre,
que se gocen los que buscan al Señor.
4 Recurran al poder del Señor,
busquen siempre su rostro;
5 recuerden las maravillas que hizo,
sus prodigios, las sentencias de su boca,
6 ustedes, estirpe de Abrahán, su siervo,
ustedes, descendencia de Jacob, su elegido.
7 Él es el Señor, nuestro Dios,
sus leyes dominan toda la tierra.
8 Recuerda eternamente su alianza,
la promesa hecha por mil generaciones:
9 el pacto que selló con Abrahán,
el juramento que hizo a Isaac,
10 lo que confirmó como ley para Jacob,
como alianza perpetua para Israel
11 diciendo: “Te daré el país de Canaán,
como propiedad hereditaria”.
12 Cuando eran sólo unos pocos,
un puñado de emigrantes en el país,
13 que iban vagando de nación en nación;
pasando de un reino a otro reino,
14 no permitió que nadie los maltratara
y por su causa castigó a algunos reyes:
15 “No toquen a mis ungidos,
no hagan daño alguno a mis profetas”.
16 Sobre el país trajo el hambre,
los dejó sin provisiones.
17 Envió delante a un hombre,
a José, vendido como esclavo.
18 Apresaron sus pies con grilletes,
rodearon su cuello con argollas,
19 hasta que se cumplió su anuncio
y la palabra del Señor lo acreditó.
20 Entonces mandó el rey dejarlo libre,
el soberano de pueblos que lo soltaran.
21 Y lo hizo señor de su casa,
gobernador de todos sus bienes
22 para imponer su voluntad a los príncipes,
para que hiciera sabios a sus ancianos.
23 Entonces Israel entró en Egipto,
moró Jacob en el país de Cam.
24 Dios hizo que su pueblo prosperara,
lo hizo más fuerte que sus rivales.
25 Pero cambió los sentimientos de los egipcios
haciendo que odiaran a su pueblo
e intrigaran contra sus siervos.
26 Envió a Moisés, su siervo,
a Aarón a quien él escogió;
27 ellos hicieron signos prodigiosos,
hechos portentosos en la tierra de Cam.
28 Envió tinieblas y todo se oscureció,
pero ni aun así escucharon su palabra.
29 Transformó en sangre sus aguas,
hizo morir a sus peces.
30 Infestó de ranas el país,
hasta las alcobas de sus reyes.
31 Habló y sobrevino otra plaga:
mosquitos por toda su tierra.
32 En vez de lluvia envió granizos,
llamas de fuego sobre el país.
33 Destruyó luego sus viñas e higueras,
destrozó la arboleda de su territorio.
34 Habló y acudieron langostas,
saltamontes imposibles de contar,
35 que devoraron toda hierba en el país,
devoraron los frutos de la tierra.
36 Mató en el país a todo primogénito,
primicia de su fuerza varonil.
37 Pero a ellos los sacó entre plata y oro,
ninguno entre sus tribus sucumbió.
38 Egipto se alegró cuando partieron,
porque el miedo los sobrecogía.
39 Extendió para cubrirlos una nube,
un fuego para iluminar la noche.
40 Suplicaron y envió codornices,
los sació con pan del cielo.
41 Hendió una roca y brotó agua,
como un río fluyó por el desierto.
42 Se acordó de su santa promesa,
la que había hecho a Abrahán, su siervo,
43 y con gozo liberó a su pueblo,
con regocijo a sus elegidos.
44 Les entregó la tierra de los paganos,
heredaron la riqueza de los pueblos;
45 así respetarían sus leyes
y cumplirían sus mandatos. ¡Aleluya!

Tell of All His Wondrous Works
105 (A)Oh give thanks to the Lord; (B)call upon his name;
(C)make known his deeds among the peoples!
2 Sing to him, sing praises to him;
(D)tell of all his wondrous works!
3 Glory in his holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!
4 Seek the Lord and his (E)strength;
(F)seek his presence continually!
5 Remember the (G)wondrous works that he has done,
his miracles, and (H)the judgments he uttered,
6 O offspring of (I)Abraham, his servant,
children of Jacob, his (J)chosen ones!
7 He is the Lord our God;
his (K)judgments are in all the earth.
8 He (L)remembers his covenant forever,
the word that he commanded, for (M)a thousand generations,
9 (N)the covenant that he made with Abraham,
his (O)sworn promise to Isaac,
10 which he confirmed to (P)Jacob as a statute,
to Israel as an everlasting covenant,
11 saying, (Q)“To you I will give the land of Canaan
as (R)your portion for an inheritance.”
12 When they were (S)few in number,
of little account, and (T)sojourners in it,
13 wandering from nation to nation,
from one kingdom to another people,
14 he (U)allowed no one to oppress them;
he (V)rebuked kings on their account,
15 saying, (W)“Touch not my anointed ones,
do my prophets no harm!”
16 When he (X)summoned a famine on the land
and (Y)broke all supply[a] of bread,
17 he had (Z)sent a man ahead of them,
Joseph, who was (AA)sold as a slave.
18 His (AB)feet were hurt with fetters;
his neck was put in a collar of iron;
19 until (AC)what he had said came to pass,
the word of the Lord (AD)tested him.
20 (AE)The king sent and (AF)released him;
the ruler of the peoples set him free;
21 he (AG)made him lord of his house
and ruler of all his possessions,
22 to bind[b] his princes at his pleasure
and to teach his elders wisdom.
23 Then (AH)Israel came to Egypt;
Jacob (AI)sojourned in (AJ)the land of Ham.
24 And the Lord (AK)made his people very fruitful
and made them stronger than their foes.
25 He (AL)turned their hearts to hate his people,
to (AM)deal craftily with his servants.
26 He (AN)sent Moses, his servant,
and Aaron, (AO)whom he had chosen.
27 (AP)They performed his signs among them
and miracles in (AQ)the land of Ham.
28 He (AR)sent darkness, and made the land dark;
they (AS)did not rebel[c] against his words.
29 He turned their waters into blood
and (AT)caused their fish to die.
30 Their land swarmed with frogs,
even in (AU)the chambers of their kings.
31 He spoke, and there came (AV)swarms of flies,
(AW)and gnats throughout their country.
32 He gave them hail for rain,
and fiery (AX)lightning bolts through their land.
33 He struck down their vines and fig trees,
and (AY)shattered the trees of their country.
34 He spoke, and the (AZ)locusts came,
young locusts without number,
35 which devoured all the vegetation in their land
and ate up the fruit of their ground.
36 He (BA)struck down all the firstborn in their land,
(BB)the firstfruits of all their strength.
37 Then he brought out Israel with (BC)silver and gold,
and there was none among his tribes who stumbled.
38 (BD)Egypt was glad when they departed,
for (BE)dread of them had fallen upon it.
39 He (BF)spread a cloud for a covering,
and fire to give light by night.
40 (BG)They asked, and he (BH)brought quail,
and gave them (BI)bread from heaven in abundance.
41 He opened the rock, and (BJ)water gushed out;
it flowed through (BK)the desert like a river.
42 For he (BL)remembered his holy promise,
and (BM)Abraham, his servant.
43 So he brought his people out with joy,
his (BN)chosen ones with (BO)singing.
44 And he (BP)gave them the lands of the nations,
and they took possession of the fruit of the peoples' toil,
45 that they might (BQ)keep his statutes
and (BR)observe his laws.

Herrens gärningar mot sitt folk
1 Tacka Herren, åkalla hans namn,
gör hans gärningar kända bland folken!
2 Sjung till hans ära, lovprisa honom,
tala om alla hans under!
3 Beröm er av hans heliga namn!
De som söker Herren må glädja sig av hjärtat.
4 Fråga efter Herren och hans makt,
sök alltid hans ansikte.
5 Tänk på de under han har gjort,
på hans tecken och hans domslut,
6 ni Abrahams barn, hans tjänare,
ni Jakobs söner, hans utvalda.
7 Han är Herren, vår Gud,
över hela jorden når hans domar.
8 Han tänker för evigt på sitt förbund,
på det ord han påbjudit för tusen släkten,
9 på det förbund han slöt med Abraham
och på sin ed till Isak.
10 Han fastställde det för Jakob som en stadga,
för Israel som ett evigt förbund.
11 Han sade: Åt dig ger jag Kanaans land,

12 Då var de en liten skara,

20 Då släpptes han på kungens befallning,
folkens härskare gav honom fri.
21 Han satte honom till herre över sitt hus,
till att råda över allt han ägde,
22 för att binda hans furstar efter sin vilja
och lära hans äldste vishet.
23 Och Israel kom till Egypten,
Jakob blev gäst i Hams land.
24 Herren gjorde sitt folk mycket fruktsamt
och mäktigare än deras ovänner.
25 Han förvandlade deras hjärtan,
så att de hatade hans folk
och handlade svekfullt mot hans tjänare.
26 Han sände Mose, sin tjänare,
och Aron som han utvalt.
27 De gjorde hans tecken bland dem
och under i Hams land.
28 Han sände mörker och allt blev mörkt,
och de stod inte emot hans ord.
29 Han förvandlade deras vatten till blod
och deras fiskar dog.
30 Deras land vimlade av paddor,
ända in i deras kungars kamrar.
31 Han befallde och svärmar av insekter kom,
mygg över hela deras land.
32 Han gav dem hagel i stället för regn
och sände eldslågor i landet.

35 De åt upp alla örter i landet,
de åt upp grödan på marken.
36 Han slog allt förstfött i landet,
förstlingen av deras livskraft.
37 Så förde han dem ut med silver och guld,
i hans stammar stapplade ingen.
38 Egyptierna gladde sig när de drog ut,
ty förskräckelse för Israel hade fallit över dem.
39 Han bredde ut ett moln till skydd
och en eld som lyste om natten.
40 De bad, och han lät vaktlar komma
och mättade dem med bröd från himlen.
41 Han öppnade klippan och vatten flödade,
det rann genom öknen som en ström.
42 Ty han tänkte på sitt heliga löfte
till Abraham, sin tjänare.
43 Så förde han ut sitt folk med glädje,
sina utvalda med jubel.
44 Han gav hednafolkens länder åt dem,
det folken arbetat ihop fick de ärva,
45 för att de skulle hålla hans stadgar
och ta vara på hans undervisning.

The Lord Can Be Trusted
1 (A) Praise the Lord
and pray in his name!
Tell everyone
what he has done.
2 Sing praises to the Lord!
Tell about his miracles.
3 Celebrate and worship
his holy name
with all your heart.
4 Trust the Lord
and his mighty power.
5 Remember his miracles
and all his wonders
and his fair decisions.
6 You belong to the family
of Abraham, his servant;
you are his chosen ones,
the descendants of Jacob.
7 The Lord is our God,
bringing justice
everywhere on earth.
8 He will never forget
his agreement or his promises,
not in thousands of years.
* 9 (B) God made an eternal promise
10 (C) to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,
11 when he said, “I'll give you
the land of Canaan.”
12 At the time there were
only a few of us,
and we were homeless.
13 We wandered from nation
to nation, from one country
to another.
14 (D) God did not let anyone
mistreat our people.
Instead he protected us
by punishing rulers
15 and telling them,
“Don't touch my chosen leaders
or harm my prophets!”
16 (E) God kept crops from growing
until food was scarce
everywhere in the land.
17 (F) But he had already sent Joseph,
sold as a slave into Egypt,
18 (G) with chains of iron
around his legs and neck.
19 Joseph remained a slave
until his own words
had come true,
and the Lord had finished
testing him.
20 (H) Then the king of Egypt
set Joseph free
21 (I) and put him in charge
of everything he owned.
22 Joseph was in command
of the officials,
and he taught the leaders
how to use wisdom.
23 (J) Jacob and his family
came and settled in Egypt
as foreigners.
24 (K) They were the Lord's people,
so he let them grow stronger
than their enemies.
25 They served the Lord,
and he made the Egyptians plan
hateful things against them.
26 (L) God sent his servant Moses.
He also chose and sent Aaron
27 to his people in Egypt,
and they worked miracles
and wonders there.
28 (M) Moses and Aaron obeyed God,
and he sent darkness
to cover Egypt.
29 (N) God turned their rivers
into streams of blood,
and the fish all died.
30 (O) Frogs were everywhere,
even in the royal palace.
31 (P) When God gave the command,
flies and gnats
swarmed all around.
32 (Q) In place of rain,
God sent hailstones
and flashes of lightning.
33 He destroyed their grapevines
and their fig trees,
and he made splinters
of all the other trees.
34 (R) God gave the command,
and more grasshoppers came
than could be counted.
35 They ate every green plant
and all the crops that grew
in the land of Egypt.
36 (S) Then God took the life
of every first-born son.
37 (T) When God led Israel from Egypt,
they took silver and gold,
and no one was left behind.
38 The Egyptians were afraid
and gladly let them go.
39 (U) God hid them under a cloud
and guided them by fire
during the night.
40 (V) When they asked for food,
he sent more birds
than they could eat.
41 (W) God even split open a rock,
and streams of water
gushed into the desert.
42 God never forgot
his sacred promise
to his servant Abraham.
43 When the Lord rescued
his chosen people from Egypt,
they celebrated with songs.
44 (X) The Lord gave them the land
and everything else
the nations had worked for.
45 He did this so that his people
would obey all his laws.

105 O give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the people.

Sing to Him, sing praises to Him;
Speak of all His wonderful acts and devoutly praise them.
3
Glory in His holy name;
Let the hearts of those who seek and require the Lord [as their most essential need] rejoice.
4
Seek and deeply long for the Lord and His strength [His power, His might];
Seek and deeply long for His face and His presence continually.
5
Remember [with awe and gratitude] the wonderful things which He has done,
His amazing deeds and the judgments uttered by His mouth [on His enemies, as in Egypt],(A)
6
O you offspring of Abraham, His servant,
O you sons of Jacob, His chosen ones!
7
He is the Lord our God;
His judgments are in all the earth.

He has remembered His covenant forever,

Israel also came into Egypt;

And made them more powerful than their enemies.

To deal craftily with His servants.

He sent Moses His servant,
And Aaron, whom He had chosen.

They exhibited His wondrous signs among them,
Great miracles in the land of Ham (Egypt).

He sent [thick, oppressive] darkness and made the land dark;
And Moses and Aaron did not rebel against His words.(I)

The Israelites asked, and He brought quail,

He opened the rock and water flowed out;
It ran in the dry places like a river.(U)

For He remembered His holy word
To Abraham His servant;(V)

He brought out His people with joy,
And His chosen ones with a joyful shout,

He gave them the lands of the nations [of Canaan],
So that they would possess the fruits of those peoples’ labor,(W)

So that they might observe His precepts
And keep His laws [obediently accepting and honoring and valuing them].

- Psalm 105:8 There were twenty-six recorded generations from Adam to Moses. The ancient rabbis took “thousand” here very literally and maintained that God originally planned to give the Law to the thousandth generation, but He foresaw that they would be wicked, so He declined to create 974 generations and gave the Law to the twenty-sixth generation (Moses) instead.
- Psalm 105:16 Lit broke the whole rod of, referring to the fact that bread was stored as ring-shaped loaves on a rod. If the rod was broken, the loaves fell off and were lost or ruined.
- Psalm 105:18 Lit his soul came into.
