Oración pidiendo la ayuda de Dios
10 Señor, ¿por qué te quedas tan lejos?,
¿por qué te escondes en tiempos de angustia?
2 Con altanería, el malvado
persigue rabiosamente al humilde;
pero ha de quedar atrapado
en las trampas que él mismo ha puesto.
3 El malvado se jacta de sus propios deseos;
el ambicioso maldice y desprecia al Señor.
4 Levanta insolente la nariz, y dice:
«No hay Dios. No hay quien me pida cuentas.»
Eso es todo lo que piensa.
5 Siempre tiene éxito en lo que hace.
Para él, tus juicios están lejos,
muy lejos de su vista.
Se burla de sus enemigos,
6 y piensa que nadie lo hará caer,
que jamás tendrá problemas.
7 Su boca está llena de maldiciones,
de mentiras y de ofensas;
sus palabras ocultan opresión y maldad.
8 Se pone al acecho, por las aldeas,
y a escondidas mata al inocente.
No pierde de vista al indefenso:
9 como si fuera un león en su cueva,
espía al pobre desde su escondite,
esperando el momento de caer sobre él,
y cuando lo atrapa, lo arrastra en su red.
10 Se agacha, se encoge,
y caen en sus garras los indefensos.
11 El malvado cree que Dios se olvida,
que se tapa la cara y que nunca ve nada.
12 ¡Levántate, Señor, levanta tu brazo!
¡No olvides a los afligidos!
13 ¿Por qué, Dios mío, han de burlarse los malos,
pensando que no habrás de pedirles cuentas?
14 Tú mismo has visto su irritante maldad;
¡la has visto, y les darás su merecido!
A ti se acogen los indefensos;
tú eres la ayuda de los huérfanos.
15 ¡Rómpeles el brazo a los malvados!
¡Pídeles cuentas de su maldad
hasta que no quede nada pendiente!
16 El Señor es el Rey eterno;
¡los paganos serán echados de su país!
17 Señor, tú escuchas la oración de los humildes,
tú los animas y los atiendes.
18 Haz justicia al huérfano y al oprimido:
¡que el hombre, hecho de tierra,
no vuelva a sembrar el terror!

10 Dios mío,
¿por qué te quedas tan lejos?,
¿por qué te escondes de mí
cuando más te necesito?
2 Los malvados y orgullosos
persiguen a los humildes,
pero acabarán por caer
en sus propias trampas.
3-4 Alaban a los ambiciosos,
pero a ti te menosprecian.
No te buscan,
porque para ellos no existes.
Son groseros. Levantan la nariz
y presumen de su codicia,
pues sólo en eso piensan;
5 ¡siempre les va bien
en todo lo que hacen!
Tus leyes, Dios mío,
no las pueden entender.
Se burlan de sus enemigos,
6 y en su interior piensan
que jamás fracasarán,
que nunca tendrán problemas
y que siempre serán felices.
7 Sus palabras ofenden y lastiman;
tras sus palabras esconden
sus malas intenciones.
8 Andan por las calles
espiando a los inocentes,
para caerles encima
y matarlos a traición.
9 Siempre se andan escondiendo,
como el león en su cueva;
siempre están dispuestos a saltar
sobre la gente indefensa,
y en cuanto la atrapan,
la arrastran en su red.
10 Y así, quedan humillados
los que tienen la desgracia
de caer bajo su dominio.
11 Esos malvados piensan
que a ti no te importa,
y que hasta escondes la cara
para no ver lo que pasa.
12-15 ¡Vamos, Dios mío!
¡Llama a cuentas a los malvados!
¿Por qué han de burlarse de ti?
¡Pídeles cuentas de su maldad,
y bórralos de este mundo!
¿Por qué han de creer
que no les pedirás cuentas?
Tú conoces su maldad,
tomas en cuenta su violencia,
y un día les darás su merecido.
¡Tú acabarás con su poder!
¡Dios mío,
no te olvides de los humildes!
Los huérfanos y desvalidos
confían en ti;
¡tú eres quien los ayuda!
16-18 Tú, Dios mío, reinas para siempre
y escuchas la oración de los humildes.
Tú defiendes a los huérfanos
y a los que son maltratados;
tú los animas y les prestas atención.
Pero a los que no te reconocen
los echarás de tu tierra,
para que nadie en este mundo

A Prayer for the Overthrow of the Wicked.
10 Why (A)do You stand far away, Lord?
Why (B)do You hide [a]Yourself in times of trouble?
2 In (C)arrogance the wicked hotly pursue the needy;
[b]Let them be (D)caught in the plots which they have devised.
3 For the wicked (E)boasts of his (F)soul’s desire,
And [c]the greedy person curses and (G)shows disrespect to the Lord.
4 The wicked, [d]in his haughtiness, (H)does not seek Him.
(I)There is no God in all his schemes.
5 His ways (J)succeed at all times;
Yet Your judgments are on high, (K)out of his sight;
As for all his enemies, he snorts at them.
6 He says to himself, “(L)I will not be moved;
[e]Throughout the generations (M)I will not be in adversity.”
7 His (N)mouth is full of cursing, deceit, and (O)oppression;
(P)Under his tongue is harm and injustice.
8 He sits in the (Q)lurking places of the villages;
He (R)kills the innocent in the secret places;
His eyes [f]surreptitiously watch for the [g](S)unfortunate.
9 He lurks in secret like (T)a lion in his [h]lair;
He (U)lurks to catch (V)the needy;
He catches the needy when he pulls him into his (W)net.
10 Then he crushes the needy one, who cowers;
And [i]unfortunate people fall by his mighty power.
11 He (X)says to himself, “God has forgotten;
He has hidden His face; He will never see it.”
12 Arise, Lord; God, (Y)lift up Your hand.
(Z)Do not forget the humble.
13 Why has the wicked (AA)treated God disrespectfully?
He has said to himself, “[j]You will not require an account.”
14 You have seen it, for You have looked at (AB)harm and provocation to [k]take it into Your hand.
The [l](AC)unfortunate commits himself to You;
You have been the (AD)helper of the orphan.
15 (AE)Break the arm of the wicked and the evildoer,
[m](AF)Seek out his wickedness until You find none.
16 The Lord is (AG)King forever and ever;
(AH)Nations have perished from His land.
17 Lord, You have heard the (AI)desire of the humble;
You will (AJ)strengthen their heart, (AK)You will make Your ear attentive
18 To [n]vindicate the (AL)orphan and the (AM)oppressed,
So that mankind, which is of the earth, will no longer cause (AN)terror.

2 In his arrogance the wicked man hunts down the weak,(C)
who are caught in the schemes he devises.
3 He boasts(D) about the cravings of his heart;
he blesses the greedy and reviles the Lord.(E)
4 In his pride the wicked man does not seek him;
in all his thoughts there is no room for God.(F)
5 His ways are always prosperous;
your laws are rejected by[b] him;
he sneers at all his enemies.
6 He says to himself, “Nothing will ever shake me.”
He swears, “No one will ever do me harm.”(G)
7 His mouth is full(H) of lies and threats;(I)
trouble and evil are under his tongue.(J)
8 He lies in wait(K) near the villages;
from ambush he murders the innocent.(L)
His eyes watch in secret for his victims;
9 like a lion in cover he lies in wait.
He lies in wait to catch the helpless;(M)
he catches the helpless and drags them off in his net.(N)
10 His victims are crushed,(O) they collapse;
they fall under his strength.
11 He says to himself, “God will never notice;(P)
he covers his face and never sees.”(Q)
12 Arise,(R) Lord! Lift up your hand,(S) O God.
Do not forget the helpless.(T)
13 Why does the wicked man revile God?(U)
Why does he say to himself,
“He won’t call me to account”?(V)
14 But you, God, see the trouble(W) of the afflicted;
you consider their grief and take it in hand.
The victims commit themselves to you;(X)
you are the helper(Y) of the fatherless.
15 Break the arm of the wicked man;(Z)
call the evildoer to account for his wickedness
that would not otherwise be found out.
16 The Lord is King for ever and ever;(AA)
the nations(AB) will perish from his land.
17 You, Lord, hear the desire of the afflicted;(AC)
you encourage them, and you listen to their cry,(AD)
18 defending the fatherless(AE) and the oppressed,(AF)
so that mere earthly mortals
will never again strike terror.
