97 L'Eterno regna; gioisca la terra e si rallegrino le grandi isole.
2 Nuvole e tenebre lo avvolgono; giustizia e diritto sono a base del suo trono.
3 Un fuoco lo precede e consuma i suoi nemici tutt'intorno.
4 I suoi lampi illuminano il mondo, Ia terra li vede e trema,
5 I monti si sciolgono come cera davanti all'Eterno, davanti al Signore di tutta la terra.
6 I cieli proclamano la sua giustizia e tutti i popoli vedono la sua gloria.
7 Siano tutti confusi quelli che servono le sculture e quelli che si vantano degli idoli; si prostrino davanti a lui tutti gli dèi.
8 Sion ha udito e ne ha gioito, e le figlie di Giuda si sono rallegrate per i tuoi giudizi, o Eterno.
9 Poiché tu, o Eterno, sei l'Altissimo su tutta la terra, tu sei grandemente esaltato al di sopra di tutti gli dèi.
10 Voi che amate l'Eterno odiate il male! Egli custodisce la vita dei suoi santi e li libera dalla mano degli empi.
11 La luce è sorta per il giusto e la gioia per i retti di cuore.
12 Rallegratevi nell'Eterno, o giusti, e lodate il suo santo nome.

Psalm 97
1 The Lord reigns,(A) let the earth be glad;(B)
let the distant shores(C) rejoice.
2 Clouds(D) and thick darkness(E) surround him;
righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.(F)
3 Fire(G) goes before(H) him
and consumes(I) his foes on every side.
4 His lightning(J) lights up the world;
the earth(K) sees and trembles.(L)
5 The mountains melt(M) like wax(N) before the Lord,
before the Lord of all the earth.(O)
6 The heavens proclaim his righteousness,(P)
and all peoples see his glory.(Q)
7 All who worship images(R) are put to shame,(S)
those who boast in idols(T)—
worship him,(U) all you gods!(V)
8 Zion hears and rejoices
and the villages of Judah are glad(W)
because of your judgments,(X) Lord.
9 For you, Lord, are the Most High(Y) over all the earth;(Z)
you are exalted(AA) far above all gods.
10 Let those who love the Lord hate evil,(AB)
for he guards(AC) the lives of his faithful ones(AD)
and delivers(AE) them from the hand of the wicked.(AF)
11 Light shines[a](AG) on the righteous(AH)
and joy on the upright in heart.(AI)
12 Rejoice in the Lord,(AJ) you who are righteous,
and praise his holy name.(AK)

let the many coasts and islands be glad.(A)
2 Clouds and total darkness surround him;
righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.(B)
3 Fire goes before him
and burns up his foes on every side.(C)
4 His lightning lights up the world;
the earth sees and trembles.(D)
5 The mountains melt like wax
at the presence of the Lord –
at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.(E)
7 All who serve carved images,
those who boast in worthless idols, will be put to shame.(H)
All the gods[a] must worship him.(I)
8 Zion hears and is glad,
Judah’s villages[b] rejoice
because of your judgements, Lord.(J)
9 For you, Lord,
are the Most High over the whole earth;
you are exalted above all the gods.(K)
10 You who love the Lord, hate evil!(L)
He protects the lives of his faithful ones;(M)
he rescues them from the power of the wicked.(N)
11 Light dawns[c][d] for the righteous,
