Salme 38
Bibelen på hverdagsdansk
En bøn om hjælp i lidelse
38 En sang af David og en bøn til Herren om nåde.
2 Herre, straf mig ikke i vrede,
irettesæt mig ikke i harme.
3 Dine pile sidder dybt i mig,
din straffende hånd hviler tungt på mig.
4 Min krop sygner hen på grund af din vrede,
mit helbred er nedbrudt som følge af synd.
5 Min skyld vokser mig over hovedet,
min syndebyrde er ikke til at bære.
6 Mine sår er betændte og stinker
på grund af min tåbelige synd.
7 Jeg er nedtrykt og meget bedrøvet,
dagen igennem sørger jeg dybt.
8 Det føles som ild i mit indre,
hele min krop er syg af feber.
9 Jeg er lamslået og knust,
stønner i fortvivlelse og smerte.
10 Herre, du ved, hvad jeg længes efter!
Du hører alle mine suk.
11 Mit hjerte hamrer, min kraft er borte,
mine øjne har mistet deres glans.
12 Min lidelse holder slægt og venner borte,
mine kære holder sig på afstand.
13 Mine fjender stiller fælder for mig,
17 Lad ikke mine fjender hovere over min tilstand,
eller glæde sig over at se mig falde.
18 Jeg er på randen af et sammenbrud,
jeg lider af konstante smerter.
19 Men jeg vil bekende min synd
og angre det onde, jeg har gjort.
20 Mange er imod mig uden årsag,
mange hader mig uden grund.
21 De gengælder godt med ondt.
De er imod mig, fordi jeg ønsker at gøre det gode.
22 Herre, lad mig ikke i stikken,
hold dig ikke borte fra mig.
23 Skynd dig at gribe ind,
hjælp mig, min Herre og Frelser!

Psalm 38
Prayer of a Suffering Sinner
A Davidic psalm for remembrance.(A)
1 Lord, do not punish me in Your anger
or discipline me in Your wrath.(B)
2 For Your arrows have sunk into me,
and Your hand has pressed down on me.(C)
3 There is no health in my body
because of Your indignation;
there is no strength[a] in my bones
because of my sin.(D)
4 For my sins have flooded over my head;
they are a burden too heavy for me to bear.(E)
5 My wounds are foul and festering
because of my foolishness.(F)
6 I am bent over and brought low;
all day long I go around in mourning.(G)
7 For my loins are full of burning pain,
and there is no health in my body.(H)
8 I am faint and severely crushed;
I groan because of the anguish of my heart.(I)
9 Lord, my every desire is known to[b] You;
my sighing is not hidden from You.(J)
10 My heart races, my strength leaves me,
and even the light of my eyes has faded.[c](K)
11 My loved ones and friends stand back from my affliction,
and my relatives stand at a distance.(L)
12 Those who seek my life set traps,
and those who want to harm me threaten to destroy me;
they plot treachery all day long.(M)
13 I am like a deaf person; I do not hear.
I am like a speechless person
who does not open his mouth.(N)
14 I am like a man who does not hear
and has no arguments in his mouth.(O)
15 I put my hope in You, Lord;
You will answer, Lord my God.(P)
16 For I said, “Don’t let them rejoice over me—
those who are arrogant toward me when I stumble.”(Q)
17 For I am about to fall,
and my pain is constantly with me.(R)
18 So I confess my guilt;
I am anxious because of my sin.(S)
19 But my enemies are vigorous and powerful;[d]
many hate me for no reason.(T)
20 Those who repay evil for good
attack me for pursuing good.(U)

Authorized (King James) Version
Psalm 38
A Psalm of David, to bring to remembrance.
1 O Lord, rebuke me not in thy wrath:
neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
2 For thine arrows stick fast in me,
and thy hand presseth me sore.
3 There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger;
neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.
4 For mine iniquities are gone over mine head:
as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.
5 My wounds stink and are corrupt
because of my foolishness.
6 I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly;
I go mourning all the day long.
7 For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease:
and there is no soundness in my flesh.
8 I am feeble and sore broken:
I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart.
9 Lord, all my desire is before thee;
and my groaning is not hid from thee.
10 My heart panteth, my strength faileth me:
as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me.
11 My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore;
and my kinsmen stand afar off.
12 They also that seek after my life lay snares for me:
and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things,
and imagine deceits all the day long.
13 But I, as a deaf man, heard not;
and I was as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth.
14 Thus I was as a man that heareth not,
and in whose mouth are no reproofs.
15 For in thee, O Lord, do I hope:
thou wilt hear, O Lord my God.
16 For I said, Hear me, lest otherwise they should rejoice over me:
when my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me.
17 For I am ready to halt,
and my sorrow is continually before me.
18 For I will declare mine iniquity;
I will be sorry for my sin.
19 But mine enemies are lively, and they are strong:
and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied.
20 They also that render evil for good are mine adversaries;
because I follow the thing that good is.
21 Forsake me not, O Lord:
O my God, be not far from me.
22 Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.
