Domsord över Israels fiender
9 En profetia, Herrens ord mot Hadraks land. I Damaskus skall det slå ner, ty Herren har sitt öga på andra människor såväl som på Israels alla stammar. 2 Det slår också ner i det angränsande Hamat, likaså i Tyrus och Sidon, där man är så vis. 3 Tyrus byggde sig ett fäste och samlade silver som stoft och guld som orenlighet på gatan. 4 Men se, Herren skall göra henne fattig och störta ner hennes välde i havet och hon skall förtäras av eld.
5 Askelon skall se det och frukta,
Gaza skall darra av ångest,
liksom Ekron, ty dess hopp kommer på skam.
Gaza mister sin kung,
och i Askelon kommer ingen att bo.
6 Ett oäkta folk skall bo i Asdod,
och filisteernas stolthet skall jag utrota.
7 Men när jag har ryckt blodmaten ur deras mun
och styggelsen från deras tänder,
då skall också av dem bli en kvarleva åt vår Gud,
de skall bli som stamfurstar i Juda,
och Ekrons folk skall bli som jebusiterna.
8 Jag skall slå upp mitt läger omkring mitt hus,
mot härar och mot den som kommer och går.
Ingen förtryckare skall längre komma över dem,
ty jag vaktar nu med öppna ögon.
Sions konung kommer
9 Fröjda dig storligen, du Sions dotter!
Höj jubelrop, du Jerusalems dotter!
Se, din konung kommer till dig,
rättfärdig och segerrik är han.
Han kommer ödmjuk, ridande på en åsna,
på en åsninnas föl.
10 Jag skall utrota vagnar ur Efraim
och hästar ur Jerusalem.
Stridens bågar skall utrotas,
och han skall tala frid till hednafolken.
Hans herravälde skall nå från hav till hav,
och från floden intill jordens yttersta gränser.
Befrielse genom förbundsblodet
11 När det gäller dig skall jag för ditt förbundsblods skull
befria dina fångar från hålan där inget vatten finns.
12 Vänd åter till ert fäste,
ni fångar som har ett hopp.
Ja, i dag förkunnar jag för er
att jag skall ge er dubbelt igen.
13 Ty jag skall spänna Juda som min båge
och lägga Efraim som pil på den,
jag skall väcka upp dina söner, du Sion,
mot dina söner, du Javan,[a]
och göra dig lik en hjältes svärd.
14 Ja, Herren skall uppenbara sig över dem
och som en blixt skall hans pil fara ut.
Herren, Herren skall blåsa i hornet,
och med söderns stormar skall han dra fram.
15 Herren Sebaot skall beskydda dem.
De skall sluka sina fiender
och trampa slungstenarna under fötterna.
De skall dricka och föra oväsen som av vin.
De skall fyllas som en offerskål, som altarets hörn.
16 Herren, deras Gud, skall frälsa dem på den dagen,
ty de är hans hjord, hans folk.
De är ädelstenar i en krona,
strålande över hans land.
17 Hur stor är inte hans godhet,
hur stor är inte hans skönhet!
Unga män skall blomstra av brödsäd
och unga kvinnor av vin.

9 The burden of the Word of the LORD in the land of Hadrach and Damascus (its rest), when the eyes of man and of all the tribes of Israel, shall be toward the LORD:
2 “And Hamath shall also border by there, Tyre also, and Sidon, though they are very wise.
3 “For Tyre built herself a stronghold and heaped up silver as the dust, and gold as the mire of the streets.
4 “Behold, the LORD will plunder her. And He will strike her power in the sea. And she shall be devoured with fire.
5 “Ashkelon shall see it, and fear. And Gaza, also, shall be very sorrowful, and Ekron. For her expectation shall be ashamed. And the king shall perish from Gaza. And Ashkelon shall not be inhabited.
6 “And the stranger shall dwell in Ashdod. And I will cut off the pride of the Philistines.
7 “And I will take away his blood out of his mouth, and his abominations from between his teeth. But he who remains, he shall be for our God. And he shall be like a prince in Judah. But Ekron shall be like a Jebusite.
8 “And I will camp around My House, against the army, against him who passes by, and against him who returns. And no oppressor shall come upon them anymore. For now I have seen with My Eyes.”
9 “Rejoice greatly, O daughter Zion! Shout for joy, O daughter Jerusalem! Behold, your King comes to you! He is just, and having salvation, poor and riding upon a donkey —upon a colt, the foal of a donkey.
10 “And I will cut off the chariots from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem. The bow of the battle shall be broken.” And He shall speak peace to the heathen. And His dominion shall be from sea to sea, and from the River to the end of the land.
11 “You also shall be saved through the Blood of My Covenant. I have loosed your prisoners out of the waterless pit.
12 “Turn to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope! Today I declare that I will restore double to you!
13 “For I have bent Judah as a bow for Myself. Ephraim’s hand have I filled. And I have raised up your sons, O Zion, against your sons, O Greece, and have made you as a giant’s sword.”
14 “And the LORD shall be seen over them. And His arrow shall go forth as the lightning. And the Lord GOD shall blow the trumpet and shall come forth with the whirlwinds of the South.
15 “The LORD of Hosts shall defend them. And they shall devour them and subdue them with sling stones. And they shall drink and make a noise, as through wine. And they shall be filled like bowls, like the horns of the Altar.
16 “And the LORD their God shall deliver them on that day as the flock of His people. For they shall be as the stones of the crown lifted up upon His land.
17 “For how great is its goodness! And how great is its beauty! Grain shall make the young men cheerful, and new wine the maids.”
