Mannen med mätsnöret
2 Och jag lyfte min blick och fick se en man med ett mätsnöre i handen. 2 Då frågade jag: ”Vart går du?” Han svarade: ”Jag ska mäta Jerusalem för att se hur brett och långt det ska bli.” 3 Och se, ängeln som talade med mig kom fram, och en annan ängel kom emot honom. 4 (A) Han sade till denne: ”Skynda dig och säg till den unge mannen: Jerusalem ska ligga som en obefäst plats, på grund av den stora mängd människor och djur som finns därinne. 5 (B) Och jag själv, säger Herren, ska vara en mur av eld omkring staden, och jag ska vara härligheten därinne.”
En ny tid för Israel och folken
6 Upp, upp! Fly från landet i norr[a], säger Herren, för jag har skingrat er som himlens fyra vindar, säger Herren. 7 (C) Upp, Sion! Rädda dig, du som bor hos dottern Babel. 8 (D) För så säger Herren Sebaot, han som för sin härlighets skull[b] har sänt mig till hednafolken som har plundrat er: ”Den som rör vid er, rör vid hans ögonsten. 9 Se, jag lyfter min hand mot dem, och de ska plundras av sina slavar.” Ni ska då förstå att Herren Sebaot har sänt mig.
10 (E) Jubla och gläd dig, dotter Sion, för se, jag kommer och jag ska bo i dig, säger Herren. 11 (F) Många hednafolk ska på den dagen ansluta sig till Herren och bli mitt folk, och jag ska bo i dig. Du ska förstå att Herren Sebaot har sänt mig till dig. 12 (G) Herren ska ha Juda som sin del i det heliga landet, och än en gång ska han utvälja Jerusalem.
13 (H) Var stilla inför Herren, allt kött, för han har trätt fram ur sin heliga boning.

2 När jag såg mig omkring fick jag se en man som hade en måttstock i handen.
2 Vart är du på väg? frågade jag.Till Jerusalem för att mäta stadens längd och bredd, svarade han.
3 Då gick ängeln jag talade med iväg för att träffa en annan ängel som kom gående mot honom.
4 Gå och säg till den unge mannen, sa den andra ängeln, att det en gång ska bli så mycket folk i Jerusalem att staden inte kan rymma dem allesammans. Många ska bli tvungna att bo utanför murarna med all sin boskap, men ändå ska de alla kunna vara trygga.
5 Herren själv ska vara en eldsmur omkring dem och hela Jerusalem, och hans härlighet ska vara över staden.
6-7 'Kom, fly från landet i norr, från Babylon
8 Härlighetens Herre har sänt mig mot folken som förtryckte er, för den som skadar er ger sig på Herrens ögonsten!
9 'Jag ska lyfta min hand mot dem, och deras slavar ska bli deras herrar. Då ska ni förstå att det var Herren, härskarornas Gud, som sände mig.
10 Sjung, Jerusalem, och var glad! Jag har kommit för att bo hos dig
11-12 'Vid den tiden ska många folk vända om till Herren, och de ska också få vara mitt folk. Jag ska bo bland dem allesammans. Då ska ni förstå att det var Herren, härskarornas Gud, som sände mig till er. Juda ska vara Herrens ögonsten i det heliga landet, och Jerusalem är staden som han älskar allra mest.'
13 Var stilla inför Herren, alla människor, för han har kommit till jorden från himlen, från sitt heliga hem.

2 And I said, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.
3 And behold, the angel that talked with me went forth; and another angel went forth to meet him,
4 and said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein;
5 and I, saith Jehovah, I will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.
6 Ho, ho! flee from the land of the north, saith Jehovah; for I have scattered you abroad as the four winds of the heavens, saith Jehovah.
7 Ho! escape, Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon.
8 For thus saith Jehovah of hosts: After the glory, hath he sent me unto the nations that made you a spoil; for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.
9 For behold, I will shake my hand upon them, and they shall become a spoil to those that served them: and ye shall know that Jehovah of hosts hath sent me.
10 Sing aloud and rejoice, daughter of Zion; for behold, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith Jehovah.
11 And many nations shall join themselves to Jehovah in that day, and shall be unto me for a people; and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that Jehovah of hosts hath sent me unto thee.
12 And Jehovah shall inherit Judah [as] his portion in the holy land, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.
13 Let all flesh be silent before Jehovah; for he is risen up out of his holy habitation.

A Man With a Measuring Line
2 [a]Then I looked up, and there before me was a man with a measuring line in his hand. 2 I asked, “Where are you going?”
He answered me, “To measure Jerusalem, to find out how wide and how long it is.”(A)
3 While the angel who was speaking to me was leaving, another angel came to meet him 4 and said to him: “Run, tell that young man, ‘Jerusalem will be a city without walls(B) because of the great number(C) of people and animals in it.(D) 5 And I myself will be a wall(E) of fire(F) around it,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will be its glory(G) within.’(H)
6 “Come! Come! Flee from the land of the north,” declares the Lord, “for I have scattered(I) you to the four winds of heaven,”(J) declares the Lord.(K)
7 “Come, Zion! Escape,(L) you who live in Daughter Babylon!”(M) 8 For this is what the Lord Almighty says: “After the Glorious One has sent me against the nations that have plundered you—for whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye(N)— 9 I will surely raise my hand against them so that their slaves will plunder them.[b](O) Then you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me.(P)
10 “Shout(Q) and be glad, Daughter Zion.(R) For I am coming,(S) and I will live among you,”(T) declares the Lord.(U) 11 “Many nations will be joined with the Lord in that day and will become my people.(V) I will live among you and you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you.(W) 12 The Lord will inherit(X) Judah(Y) as his portion in the holy land and will again choose(Z) Jerusalem. 13 Be still(AA) before the Lord, all mankind, because he has roused himself from his holy dwelling.(AB)”

11 And many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto thee.
12 And the Lord shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.
13 Be silent, O all flesh, before the Lord: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation.
