Den framtida välsignelsen över Jerusalem
8 Och Herren Sebaots ord kom till mig. Han sade: 2 Så säger Herren Sebaot:
Jag nitälskar för Sion med stor iver,
med stor vrede nitälskar jag för henne.
3 Så säger Herren:
Jag skall vända åter till Sion
för att bo mitt i Jerusalem,
och Jerusalem skall kallas "sanningens stad"
och Herren Sebaots berg "det heliga berget".
4 Så säger Herren Sebaot:
Än en gång skall gamla män och kvinnor
finnas på Jerusalems gator,
var och en med sin stav i handen
för sin höga ålders skull.
5 Och stadens gator skall vara fulla
av pojkar och flickor som leker där.
6 Så säger Herren Sebaot:
Även om det kan te sig alltför underbart
för kvarlevan av detta folk i de dagarna,
skall det därför te sig alltför underbart också för mig?
säger Herren Sebaot.
7 Så säger Herren Sebaot:
Se, jag skall frälsa mitt folk
från landet i öst
och från landet i väst.
8 Jag skall låta dem komma och bo i Jerusalem,
de skall vara mitt folk
och jag skall vara deras Gud
i sanning och rättfärdighet.
9 Så säger Herren Sebaot:
Fatta mod, ni som i de här dagarna
hör dessa ord från de profeter
som talade på den tid då grunden lades
till Herren Sebaots hus,
templet som skulle byggas upp.
10 Ty före den tiden
hade varken människor eller djur lön för sin strävan.
Ingen hade ro för sina ovänner,
vare sig han gick ut eller in
ty jag vände alla människor mot varandra.
11 Men nu vill jag inte längre vara som i gångna dagar mot kvarlevan av detta folk,
säger Herren Sebaot.
12 Ty nu skall friden ge utsäde,
vinstocken ge sin frukt,
jorden sin gröda
och himlen sin dagg.
Jag skall låta kvarlevan av detta folk
få ärva allt detta.
13 Och liksom ni,
både Juda hus och Israels hus,
har varit en förbannelse bland hednafolken,
så skall ni nu, då jag frälst er,
bli en välsignelse.
Frukta inte, fatta mod!
14 Ty så säger Herren Sebaot: Liksom jag beslöt att straffa er, när era fäder väckte min vrede säger Herren Sebaot, och jag då inte ångrade det, 15 så har jag i denna tid beslutat att vända om för att göra gott mot Jerusalem och Juda hus. Frukta inte!
16 Men detta är vad ni skall göra:
Tala sanning med varandra,
döm i era portar rätta domar som ger frid.
17 Tänk inte ut ont mot varandra i era hjärtan
och ha inte kärlek till falska eder,
ty allt sådant hatar jag,
säger Herren.
18 Herren Sebaots ord kom till mig. Han sade: 19 Så säger Herren Sebaot:
Fastedagarna i fjärde, femte,
sjunde och tionde månaden
skall för Juda hus
bli till fröjd och glädje,
ja, till glada högtider.
Och sanning och frid
skall ni älska.
Hedningarnas frälsning
20 Så säger Herren Sebaot:
Än en gång skall folk komma hit,
ja, många städers invånare.
21 Och de som bor i den ena staden skall gå till den andra och säga:
"Låt oss gå och bönfalla inför Herren
och söka Herren Sebaot,
jag själv skall också gå."
22 Ja, många folk och mäktiga hednafolk skall komma
och söka Herren Sebaot i Jerusalem,
och de skall åkalla Herren.
23 Så säger Herren Sebaot: På den tiden skall tio män, av alla språk och länder, gripa tag i mantelfållen på en judisk man och säga: "Låt oss gå med er, för vi har hört att Gud är med er."

8 Vidare kom HERREN Sebaots ord; han sade:
2 Så säger HERREN Sebaot: Jag har stor nitälskan för Sion, ja, med stor vrede nitälskar jag för henne.
3 Så säger HERREN: Jag vill vända: åter till Sion och taga min boning i Jerusalem; och Jerusalem skall kallas »den trogna staden», och HERREN Sebaots berg »det heliga berget».
4 Så säger HERREN Sebaot: Ännu en gång skola gamla män och gamla kvinnor vara att finna på gatorna i Jerusalem, var och en med sin stav i handen, för hög ålders skull.
5 Och stadens gator skola vara fulla av gossar och flickor, som leka där på gatorna,
6 Så säger HERREN Sebaot. Om än sådant på den tiden kan komma att synas alltför underbart för kvarlevan av detta folk, icke måste det väl därför synas alltför underbart också för mig? säger HERREN Sebaot.
7 Så säger HERREN Sebaot: Se, jag skall frälsa mitt folk ut ur både österland och västerland
8 och låta dem komma och bosätta sig i Jerusalem; och de skola vara mitt folk, och jag skall vara deras Gud, i sanning och rättfärdighet.
9 Så säger HERREN Sebaot: Fatten mod, I som i denna tid hören dessa ord av samma profeters mun, som talade på den tid då grunden lades till HERREN Sebaots hus, templet som skulle byggas upp.
10 Ty före den tiden var människornas arbete lönlöst och djurens arbete fåfängt; ingen hade någon ro för sina ovänner, vare sig han gick ut eller in, ty jag eggade alla människor mot varandra.
11 Men nu är jag icke mer så sinnad mot kvarlevan av detta folk som jag var i forna dagar, säger HERREN Sebaot.
12 Ty nu skall friden skaffa utsäde, vinträdet skall giva sin frukt, jorden skall giva sin gröda, och himmelen skall giva sin dagg; och jag skall låta kvarlevan av detta folk få allt detta till sin arvedel.
13 Och det skall ske, att likasom I, både Juda hus och Israels hus, haven varit ett exempel som man har nämnt, när man förbannade bland hedningarna, så skolen I nu, då jag har frälsat eder, tvärtom bliva nämnda, när man välsignar. Frukten icke, utan fatten mod.
14 Ty så säger HERREN Sebaot: Likasom jag, när edra fäder förtörnade mig, beslöt att göra eder ont, säger HERREN Sebaot, och icke sedan ångrade det,
15 så har jag tvärtom i denna tid beslutit att göra gott mot Jerusalem och Juda hus; frukten icke.
16 Men detta är vad I skolen göra: Talen sanning med varandra; domen rätta och fridsamma domar i edra portar.
17 Tänken icke i edra hjärtan ut ont mot varandra, och älsken icke falska eder; ty allt sådant hatar jag, säger HERREN.
18 Och HERREN Sebaots ord kom till mig; han sade:
19 Så säger HERREN Sebaot: Fastedagarna i fjärde, femte, sjunde och tionde månaden skola för Juda hus bliva till fröjd och glädje och till sköna högtider. Men älsken sanning och frid.
20 Så säger HERREN Sebaot: Ännu en gång skall det ske att folk skola komma hit och många städers invånare;
21 och invånarna i den ena staden skola gå till den andra och säga: »Upp, låtom oss gå åstad och bönfalla inför HERREN och söka HERREN Sebaot; jag själv vill ock gå åstad.»
22 Ja, många folk och mäktiga hednafolk skola komma och söka HERREN Sebaot i Jerusalem och bönfalla inför HERREN,
23 Så säger HERREN Sebaot: På den tiden skall det ske att tio män av allahanda tungomål som talas bland hednafolken skola fatta en judisk man i mantelfliken och säga: »Låt oss gå med eder, ty vi hava hört att Gud är med eder.»

8 Again the word of the Lord of hosts came, saying, 2 “Thus says the Lord of hosts:
3 “Thus says the Lord:
(B)‘I will return to Zion,
And (C)dwell in the midst of Jerusalem.
Jerusalem (D)shall be called the City of Truth,
(E)The Mountain of the Lord of hosts,
(F)The Holy Mountain.’
4 “Thus says the Lord of hosts:
(G)‘Old men and old women shall again sit
In the streets of Jerusalem,
Each one with his staff in his hand
Because of [d]great age.
5 The streets of the city
Shall be (H)full of boys and girls
Playing in its streets.’
6 “Thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘If it is [e]marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days,
(I)Will it also be marvelous in My eyes?’
Says the Lord of hosts.
7 “Thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘Behold, (J)I will save My people from the land of the [f]east
And from the land of the [g]west;
8 I will (K)bring them back,
And they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem.
(L)They shall be My people
And I will be their God,
(M)In truth and righteousness.’
9 “Thus says the Lord of hosts:
(N)‘Let your hands be strong,
You who have been hearing in these days
These words by the mouth of (O)the prophets,
Who spoke in (P)the day the foundation was laid
For the house of the Lord of hosts,
That the temple might be built.
10 For before these days
There were no (Q)wages for man nor any hire for beast;
There was no peace from the enemy for whoever went out or came in;
For I set all men, everyone, against his neighbor.
11 (R)But now I will not treat the remnant of this people as in the former days,’ says the Lord of hosts.
12 ‘For(S) the [h]seed shall be prosperous,
The vine shall give its fruit,
(T)The ground shall give her increase,
And (U)the heavens shall give their dew—
I will cause the remnant of this people
To possess all these.
13 And it shall come to pass
That just as you were (V)a curse among the nations,
O house of Judah and house of Israel,
So I will save you, and (W)you shall be a blessing.
Do not fear,
Let your hands be strong.’
14 “For thus says the Lord of hosts:
(X)‘Just as I determined to [i]punish you
When your fathers provoked Me to wrath,’
Says the Lord of hosts,
(Y)‘And I would not relent,
15 So again in these days
I am determined to do good
To Jerusalem and to the house of Judah.
Do not fear.
16 These are the things you shall (Z)do:
(AA)Speak each man the truth to his neighbor;
Give judgment in your gates for truth, justice, and peace;
17 (AB)Let none of you think evil in [j]your heart against your neighbor;
And do not love a false oath.
For all these are things that I hate,’
Says the Lord.”
18 Then the word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying, 19 “Thus says the Lord of hosts:
(AC)‘The fast of the fourth month,
(AD)The fast of the fifth,
(AE)The fast of the seventh,
(AF)And the fast of the tenth,
Shall be (AG)joy and gladness and cheerful feasts
For the house of Judah.
(AH)Therefore love truth and peace.’
20 “Thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘Peoples shall yet come,
Inhabitants of many cities;
21 The inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying,
(AI)“Let us continue to go and pray before the Lord,
And seek the Lord of hosts.
I myself will go also.”
22 Yes, (AJ)many peoples and strong nations
Shall come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem,
And to pray before the Lord.’
23 “Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘In those days ten men (AK)from every language of the nations shall (AL)grasp the [k]sleeve of a Jewish man, saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard (AM)that God is with you.” ’ ”

8 The word of the Lord of Armies came: 2 The Lord of Armies says this: ‘I am extremely jealous(A) for Zion; I am jealous for her with great wrath.’ 3 The Lord says this: ‘I will return to Zion and live in Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the Faithful City;(B) the mountain of the Lord of Armies will be called the Holy Mountain.’ 4 The Lord of Armies says this: ‘Old men and women will again sit along the streets of Jerusalem, each with a staff in hand because of their advanced age. 5 The streets of the city will be filled with boys and girls playing in them.’ 6 The Lord of Armies says this: ‘Though it may seem impossible to the remnant of this people in those days, should it also seem impossible to me? ’ – this is the declaration of the Lord of Armies. 7 The Lord of Armies says this: ‘I will save my people from the land of the east and the land of the west.[a] 8 I will bring them back(C) to live in Jerusalem. They will be my people, and I will be their faithful and righteous God.’(D)
9 The Lord of Armies says this: ‘Let your hands be strong, you who now hear these words that the prophets spoke when the foundations were laid for the rebuilding of the temple, the house of the Lord of Armies. 10 For prior to those days neither people nor animals had wages. There was no safety from the enemy for anyone who came or went, for I turned everyone against his neighbour. 11 But now, I will not treat the remnant of this people as in the former days’ – this is the declaration of the Lord of Armies. 12 ‘For they will sow in peace: the vine will yield its fruit, the land will yield its produce, and the skies will yield their dew. I will give the remnant of this people all these things as an inheritance.(E) 13 As you have been a curse among the nations,(F) house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you, and you will be a blessing.(G) Don’t be afraid; let your hands be strong.’ 14 For the Lord of Armies says this: ‘As I resolved to treat you badly when your ancestors provoked me to anger, and I did not relent,’ says the Lord of Armies, 15 ‘so I have resolved again in these days to do what is good to Jerusalem and the house of Judah.(H) Don’t be afraid. 16 These are the things you must do: Speak truth to one another; make true and sound decisions within your city gates. 17 Do not plot evil(I) in your hearts against your neighbour,(J) and do not love perjury,(K) for I hate all this’ – this is the Lord’s declaration.
18 Then the word of the Lord of Armies came to me: 19 The Lord of Armies says this: ‘The fast of the fourth month,(L) the fast of the fifth, the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth(M) will become times of joy, gladness, and cheerful festivals for the house of Judah. Therefore, love truth and peace.’ 20 The Lord of Armies says this: ‘Peoples will yet come, the residents of many cities; 21 the residents of one city will go to another, saying: Let’s go at once to plead for the Lord’s favour and to seek the Lord of Armies. I am also going. 22 Many peoples and strong nations will come to seek the Lord of Armies in Jerusalem and to plead for the Lord’s favour.’(N) 23 The Lord of Armies says this: ‘In those days, ten men from nations of every language will grab the robe of a Jewish man tightly, urging: Let us go with you,(O) for we have heard that God is with you.’
