Sálmarnir 2
Icelandic Bible
2 Hví geisa heiðingjarnir og hví hyggja þjóðirnar á fánýt ráð?
2 Konungar jarðarinnar ganga fram, og höfðingjarnir bera ráð sín saman gegn Drottni og hans smurða:
3 "Vér skulum brjóta sundur fjötra þeirra, vér skulum varpa af oss viðjum þeirra."
4 Hann sem situr á himni hlær. Drottinn gjörir gys að þeim.
5 Því næst talar hann til þeirra í reiði sinni, skelfir þá í bræði sinni:
6 "Ég hefi skipað konung minn á Síon, fjallið mitt helga."
7 Ég vil kunngjöra ályktun Drottins: Hann mælti við mig: "Þú ert sonur minn. Í dag gat ég þig.
8 Bið þú mig, og ég mun gefa þér þjóðirnar að erfð og endimörk jarðar að óðali.
9 Þú skalt mola þá með járnsprota, mölva þá sem leirsmiðs ker."
10 Verið því hyggnir, þér konungar, látið yður segjast, þér dómarar á jörðu.
11 Þjónið Drottni með ótta og fagnið með lotningu.
12 Hyllið soninn, að hann reiðist eigi og vegur yðar endi í vegleysu,
13 því að skjótt bálast upp reiði hans. Sæll er hver sá er leitar hælis hjá honum.
Psalm 2
King James Version
2 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying,
3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
7 I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
Psalm 2

The Reign of the Lord's Anointed
2 (A)Why do (B)the nations rage[a]
and the peoples plot in vain?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord and against his (C)Anointed, saying,
3 “Let us (D)burst their bonds apart
and cast away their cords from us.”
4 He who (E)sits in the heavens (F)laughs;
the Lord holds them in derision.
5 Then he will speak to them in his (G)wrath,
and terrify them in his fury, saying,
6 “As for me, I have (H)set my King
on (I)Zion, my (J)holy hill.”
7 I will tell of the decree:
The Lord said to me, (K)“You are my Son;
today I have begotten you.
8 Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,
and (L)the ends of the earth your possession.
9 You shall (M)break[b] them with (N)a rod of iron
and dash them in pieces like (O)a potter's vessel.”
