² And he took ten men of ^(A)the elders of the city, and said, “Sit down here.” So they sat down.

⁸ And she wrote letters in Ahab’s name, sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters to the elders and the nobles who were dwelling in the city with Naboth.

¹² And they stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes; and they came upon him, seized him, and brought him to the council.

⁸ If she ^[a]does not please her master, who has betrothed her to himself, then he shall let her be redeemed. He shall have no right to sell her to a foreign people, since he has dealt deceitfully with her.

²⁸ Gather to me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their hearing ^(A)and call heaven and earth to witness against them.

¹⁰ “All of you stand today before the Lord your God: your leaders and your tribes and your elders and your officers, all the men of Israel,

²¹ Moreover you shall select from all the people ^(A)able men, such as ^(B)fear God, ^(C)men of truth, ^(D)hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. ²² And let them judge the people at all times. ^(E)Then it will be that every great matter they shall bring to you, but every small matter they themselves shall judge. So it will be easier for you, for ^(F)they will bear the burden with you.
