She told her all that the man had done for her. 17 She said, “He gave me these six measures of barley; for he said, ‘Don’t go empty to your mother-in-law.’”

18 Then she said, “Wait, my daughter, until you know what will happen; for the man will not rest until he has settled this today.”

Naomi’s Response to Ruth

16 When Ruth[a] returned to her mother-in-law, Naomi[b] asked her, “How did it go, my daughter?”

Then she related everything that the man had done for her. 17 Ruth[c] also said, “He gave me these six units[d] of barley and told me, ‘Don’t go back to your mother-in-law empty-handed.’”[e]

18 Naomi[f] replied, “Be patient, my daughter, until you learn how this works out, because the man won’t rest until he finishes everything today.”
