²⁰ And Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, ^(A)“May he be blessed by the Lord, whose kindness has not forsaken ^(B)the living or the dead!” Naomi also said to her, “The man is a close relative of ours, one of ^(C)our redeemers.” ²¹ And Ruth the Moabite said, “Besides, he said to me, ‘You shall keep close by my young men until they have finished all my harvest.’”

Dorcas Restored to Life

³⁶ Now there was in ^(A)Joppa a disciple named Tabitha, which, translated, means Dorcas.^[a] She was full of ^(B)good works and acts of charity. ³⁷ In those days she became ill and died, and when they had washed her, they laid her in ^(C)an upper room. ³⁸ Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him, urging him, ^(D)“Please come to us without delay.” ³⁹ So Peter rose and went with them. And when he arrived, they took him to ^(E)the upper room. All the widows stood beside him weeping and showing tunics^[b] and other garments that Dorcas made while she was with them.
