Ruth 1:15-18
New International Version
15 “Look,” said Naomi, “your sister-in-law(A) is going back to her people and her gods.(B) Go back with her.”
16 But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you(C) or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go,(D) and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people(E) and your God my God.(F) 17 Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely,(G) if even death separates you and me.”(H) 18 When Naomi realized that Ruth was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her.(I)
Ruth 1:15-18
International Standard Version
15 Naomi told Ruth,[a] “Look, your sister-in-law has returned to her people and to her gods. Follow your sister-in-law!”
16 But Ruth answered, “Stop urging me to abandon you and to turn back from following you. Because wherever you go, I’ll go. Wherever you live, I’ll live. Your people will be my people, and your God, my God. 17 Where you die, I’ll die and be buried. May the Lord do this to me—and more—if anything[b] except death comes between you and me.”
18 When Naomi[c] observed Ruth’s[d] determination to travel with her, she ended the conversation.
