¹⁶ But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you^(A) or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go,^(B) and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people^(C) and your God my God.^(D)

²¹ But Ittai replied to the king, “As surely as the Lord lives, and as my lord the king lives, wherever my lord the king may be, whether it means life or death, there will your servant be.”^(A)

¹¹ Boaz replied, “I’ve been told all about what you have done for your mother-in-law^(A) since the death of your husband^(B)—how you left your father and mother and your homeland and came to live with a people you did not know^(C) before.^{(D) 12} May the Lord repay you for what you have done. May you be richly rewarded by the Lord,^(E) the God of Israel,^(F) under whose wings^(G) you have come to take refuge.^(H)”

² Elijah said to Elisha, “Stay here;^(A) the Lord has sent me to Bethel.”

But Elisha said, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.”^(B) So they went down to Bethel.

³ The company^(C) of the prophets at Bethel came out to Elisha and asked, “Do you know that the Lord is going to take your master from you today?”

“Yes, I know,” Elisha replied, “so be quiet.”

⁴ Then Elijah said to him, “Stay here, Elisha; the Lord has sent me to Jericho.^(D)”

And he replied, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.” So they went to Jericho.

⁵ The company^(E) of the prophets at Jericho went up to Elisha and asked him, “Do you know that the Lord is going to take your master from you today?”

“Yes, I know,” he replied, “so be quiet.”

⁶ Then Elijah said to him, “Stay here;^(F) the Lord has sent me to the Jordan.”^(G)

And he replied, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.”^(H) So the two of them walked on.

⁹ for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned^(A) to God from idols^(B) to serve the living and true God,^(C)

¹⁹ Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”

¹³ Then Paul answered, “Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die^(A) in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”^(B)
