¹⁵ And she said, “Look, your sister-in-law has gone back to ^(A)her people and to her gods; ^(B)return after your sister-in-law.”

²⁴ Will you not possess whatever ^(A)Chemosh your god gives you to possess? So whatever ^(B)the Lord our God takes possession of before us, we will possess.

² Then Elijah said to Elisha, ^(A)“Stay here, please, for the Lord has sent me on to Bethel.”

But Elisha said, “As the Lord lives, and ^(B)as your soul lives, I will not leave you!” So they went down to Bethel.

¹⁵ And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, ^(A)choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether ^(B)the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of ^[a]the River, or ^(C)the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. ^(D)But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

¹⁹ Then the king said to ^(A)Ittai the Gittite, “Why are you also going with us? Return and remain with the king. For you are a foreigner and also an exile from your own place. ²⁰ In fact, you came only yesterday. Should I make you wander up and down with us today, since I go ^(B)I know not where? Return, and take your brethren back. Mercy and truth be with you.”

^19 (A)They went out from us, but they were not of us; for ^(B)if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out ^(C)that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.

The Disciples’ Eyes Opened

²⁸ Then they drew near to the village where they were going, and ^(A)He ^[a]indicated that He would have gone farther.
