¹³ would you then wait until they were grown? Would you then refrain from marrying? No, my daughters, it has been far more bitter for me than for you, because the hand of the Lord has turned against me.”^(A)

¹⁵ Whenever they marched out, the hand of the Lord was against them to bring misfortune, as the Lord had warned them and sworn to them, and they were in great distress.

¹¹ They sent therefore and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines and said, “Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it return to its own place, that it may not kill us and our^[a] people.” For there was a deathly panic throughout the whole city. The hand of God was very heavy there;^(A)

¹⁵ Indeed, the Lord’s own hand was against them, to root them out from the camp, until all had perished.^(A)
