²⁸ And we know that ^[a]God ^[b]causes ^(A)all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are ^(B)called according to His purpose. ²⁹ For those whom He ^(C)foreknew, He also ^(D)predestined to become ^(E)conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the ^(F)firstborn among many brothers and sisters; ³⁰ and these whom He ^(G)predestined, He also ^(H)called; and these whom He called, He also ^(I)justified; and these whom He justified, He also ^(J)glorified.

⁴ just as ^(A)He chose us in Him before ^(B)the foundation of the world, that we would be ^(C)holy and blameless before ^[a]Him. ^(D)In love ^5 [b]He ^(E)predestined us to ^(F)adoption as sons and daughters through Jesus Christ to Himself, ^(G)according to the good pleasure of His will, ^6 (H)to the praise of the glory of His grace, with which He favored us in ^(I)the Beloved. ^7 (J)In ^[c]Him we have ^(K)redemption ^(L)through His blood, the ^(M)forgiveness of our wrongdoings, according to ^(N)the riches of His grace ⁸ which He ^[d]lavished on ^[e]us. In all wisdom and insight ⁹ He ^[f](O)made known to us the mystery of His will, ^(P)according to His good pleasure which He ^(Q)set forth in Him, ¹⁰ regarding His plan of ^(R)the fullness of the times, ^(S)to bring all things together in Christ, things ^[g]in the heavens and things on the earth. ^11 [h]In Him we also ^(T)have obtained an inheritance, having been ^(U)predestined ^(V)according to the purpose of Him who works all things ^(W)in accordance with the plan of His will,

Stand Firm

^13 (A)But we should always give thanks to God for you, ^(B)brothers and sisters beloved by the Lord, because ^(C)God has chosen you ^[a]from the beginning ^(D)for salvation ^[b](E)through sanctification ^[c]by the Spirit and faith in the truth.

¹⁰ For this reason ^(A)I endure all things for ^(B)the sake of ^[a]those who are chosen, ^(C)so that they also may obtain the ^(D)salvation which is in ^(E)Christ Jesus and with it ^(F)eternal glory.

A Living Hope and a Sure Salvation

To those who reside as ^(B)strangers, ^(C)scattered throughout ^(D)Pontus, ^(E)Galatia, ^(F)Cappadocia, ^(G)Asia, and ^(H)Bithynia, ^(I)who are chosen ² according to the ^(J)foreknowledge of God the Father, ^(K)by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, ^[a]to ^(L)obey Jesus Christ and be ^(M)sprinkled with His blood: ^(N)May grace and peace be multiplied to you.
