²³ Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit,^(A) groan^(B) inwardly as we wait eagerly^(C) for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.^(D)

²⁰ But our citizenship^(A) is in heaven.^(B) And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,^{(C) 21} who, by the power^(D) that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies^(E) so that they will be like his glorious body.^(F)

² Meanwhile we groan,^(A) longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling,^{(B) 3} because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. ⁴ For while we are in this tent, we groan^(C) and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling,^(D) so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. ⁵ Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.^(E)

²⁸ so Christ was sacrificed once^(A) to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time,^(B) not to bear sin,^(C) but to bring salvation^(D) to those who are waiting for him.^(E)

¹⁴ who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance^(A) until the redemption^(B) of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.^(C)

³⁰ And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God,^(A) with whom you were sealed^(B) for the day of redemption.^(C)

¹³ while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing^(A) of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,^(B)

²⁴ What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death?^(A)

⁵ For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope.^(A)
