¹⁴ For all who are ^(A)led by the Spirit of God are ^(B)sons^[a] of God. ¹⁵ For ^(C)you did not receive ^(D)the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of ^(E)adoption as sons, by whom we cry, ^(F)“Abba! Father!” ^16 (G)The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

3 See ^(A)what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called ^(B)children of God; and so we are. The reason why ^(C)the world does not know us is that ^(D)it did not know him. ² Beloved, we are ^(E)God's children ^(F)now, and what we will be ^(G)has not yet appeared; but we know that ^(H)when he appears^{[a] (I)}we shall be like him, because ^(J)we shall see him as he is.

Spiritual Blessings in Christ

^3 (A)Blessed be ^(B)the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing ^(C)in the heavenly places, ^4 (D)even as he ^(E)chose us in him ^(F)before the foundation of the world, that we should be ^(G)holy and blameless before him. In love ^5 (H)he predestined us^[a] for ^(I)adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, ^(J)according to the purpose of his will,

³⁷ And he said to him, ^(A)“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. ³⁸ This is the great and first commandment.
