Dili na Kita Ilalom sa Kasugoan

Mga igsoon, nasayod kamo mahitungod sa Kasugoan, busa nasiguro ko nga masabtan ninyo ang akong ipahayag kaninyo nga kon ang tawo patay na, ang Kasugoan wala nay gahom kaniya. Sama ba sa babaye nga adunay bana. Sumala sa Kasugoan, ang babaye nahigot ngadto sa iyang bana samtang buhi pa ang iyang bana. Apan kon ang iyang bana patay na, makalingkawas na siya sa Kasugoan nga nagahigot kaniya sa iyang bana. Busa kon nakigpuyo siyag lain nga lalaki samtang buhi pa ang iyang bana, nakapanapaw siya. Apan kon ang iyang bana patay na ug mamana siya pag-usab, wala siya makalapas sa Kasugoan, ug wala usab siya makapanapaw.

Busa, mga igsoon, sama usab niana ang nahitabo kaninyo. Wala nay labot kaninyo ang Kasugoan, kay namatay na man kamo pinaagi sa kamatayon ni Cristo. Iya na kamo ni Cristo nga nabanhaw, aron nga magkinabuhi kita nga mapuslanon sa pag-alagad sa Dios. Sa dihang anaa pa kita sa atong daan nga pagkinabuhi, ang daotan nga mga kaibog mao ang naggahom kanato, ug misamot pa gani tungod sa Kasugoan. Ug tungod kay gihimo nato kadto, ang atong silot mao ang kamatayon. Apan karon, tungod sa atong pagkahiusa sa kamatayon ni Cristo, luwas na kita gikan sa Kasugoan nga nagaulipon kanato. Ang atong pag-alagad sa Dios karon sumala na sa bag-ong kinabuhi nga resulta sa atong pagsunod sa Espiritu Santo ug dili sa kanhing pagkinabuhi nga resulta sa atong pagsunod sa Kasugoan.

Ang Kasugoan ug ang Sala

Kon mao kana, basig may moingon nga daotan diay ang Kasugoan. Wala ako mag-ingon nga kini daotan. Kay kon wala ang Kasugoan dili unta ako masayod kon unsa ang sala. Pananglitan, kon wala mag-ingon ang Kasugoan, “Ayaw pagpangibog,”[a] dili unta ako masayod nga daotan diay ang pagpangibog.

Released From the Law, Bound to Christ

Do you not know, brothers and sisters(A)—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law has authority over someone only as long as that person lives? For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law that binds her to him.(B) So then, if she has sexual relations with another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress.(C) But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress if she marries another man.

So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law(D) through the body of Christ,(E) that you might belong to another,(F) to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God. For when we were in the realm of the flesh,[a](G) the sinful passions aroused by the law(H) were at work in us,(I) so that we bore fruit for death.(J) But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law(K) so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.(L)

The Law and Sin

What shall we say, then?(M) Is the law sinful? Certainly not!(N) Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law.(O) For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”[b](P)

Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?

For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.

So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.

Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
