19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made[a] sinners, so also through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous ones.
The Law Increased Sin, But Grace Abounded So As To Reign Through Righteousness
20 And the Law[b] came-in-beside[c] that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace super-abounded, 21 in order that just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness, resulting-in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

- Romans 5:19 Or, constituted, caused to become. The sin of one resulted in condemnation because we were made sinners. The righteous act of One resulted in justification because those receiving this gift (v17) were made righteous.
- Romans 5:20 Paul now puts the Law into this broad perspective.
- Romans 5:20 Same root word as ‘entered’ in v 12. Sin ‘came in’, Law ‘came in beside’.
