¹⁶ Therefore it is of faith that it might be ^(A)according to grace, ^(B)so that the promise might be ^[a]sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, ^(C)who is the father of us all

³ For ^(A)I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my ^[a]countrymen according to the flesh, ⁴ who are Israelites, ^(B)to whom pertain the adoption, ^(C)the glory, ^(D)the covenants, ^(E)the giving of the law, ^(F)the service of God, and ^(G)the promises; ^5 (H)of whom are the fathers and from ^(I)whom, according to the flesh, Christ came, ^(J)who is over all, the eternally blessed God. Amen.

Israel’s Rejection and God’s Purpose^(K)

^6 (L)But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect. For ^(M)they are not all Israel who are of Israel, ^7 (N)nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham; but, ^(O)“In Isaac your seed shall be called.” ⁸ That is, those who are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God; but ^(P)the children of the promise are counted as the seed.

¹⁷ And if ^(A)some of the branches were broken off, ^(B)and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and ^[a]fatness of the olive tree, ^18 (C)do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you.

¹⁹ You will say then, “Branches were broken off that I might be grafted in.” ²⁰ Well said. Because of ^(D)unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear. ²¹ For if God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either. ²² Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, ^[b]goodness, ^(E)if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise ^(F)you also will be cut off. ²³ And they also, ^(G)if they do not continue in unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. ²⁴ For if you were cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, who are natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?

¹⁶ Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of ^(A)one, ^(B)“And to your Seed,” who is ^(C)Christ.

^28 (A)There is neither Jew nor Greek, ^(B)there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all ^(C)one in Christ Jesus. ²⁹ And ^(D)if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s ^(E)seed, and ^(F)heirs according to the promise.
