²⁵ God presented him as the mercy seat^[a](A) by his blood,^(B) through faith, to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his restraint God^(C) passed over the sins previously committed.^{(D) 26} God presented him to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so that he would be just and justify the one who has faith in Jesus.

Boasting Excluded

²⁷ Where, then, is boasting?^(E) It is excluded. By what kind of law?^[b](F) By one of works? No, on the contrary, by a law^[c] of faith. ²⁸ For we conclude that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.^{(G) 29} Or is God the God of Jews only?^(H) Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, ³⁰ since there is one God^(I) who will justify the circumcised by faith^(J) and the uncircumcised through faith. ³¹ Do we then nullify the law through faith? Absolutely not!^(K) On the contrary, we uphold the law.^(L)

¹⁴ For the love of Christ compels us, since we have reached this conclusion, that one died for all,^(A) and therefore all died.

⁵ Therefore, as he was coming into the world, he said:

⁸ After he says above, You did not desire or delight in sacrifices and offerings, whole burnt offerings and sin offerings (which are offered according to the law^(B)), ⁹ he then says, See, I have come to do your will.^[b] He takes away the first to establish the second. ¹⁰ By this will, we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all time.^(C)

¹¹ Every priest stands day after day ministering and offering the same sacrifices time after time, which can never take away sins.^{(D) 12} But this man, after offering one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God.^{[c](E) 13} He is now waiting until his enemies are made his footstool.^{(F) 14} For by one offering he has perfected forever those who are sanctified.
