⁹ There will be ^(A)tribulation and distress ^[a]for every soul of mankind who does evil, ^[b]for the Jew ^(B)first and also ^[c]for the Greek,

^3 (A)And not only this, but ^[a]we also ^(B)celebrate in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about ^(C)perseverance; ⁴ and ^(D)perseverance, ^(E)proven character; and proven character, hope; ⁵ and hope ^(F)does not disappoint, because the love of God has been ^(G)poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

³⁵ Who will separate us from ^(A)the love of ^[a]Christ? Will ^(B)tribulation, or trouble, or ^(C)persecution, or ^(D)famine, or ^(E)nakedness, or ^(F)danger, or sword?

²⁸ But if you marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. Yet such people as yourselves will have ^[a]trouble in this life, and I am trying to spare you.

^3 (A)giving no reason for taking offense in anything, so that the ministry will not be discredited,

¹⁰ Therefore ^(A)I delight in weaknesses, in ^[a]insults, in ^(B)distresses, in ^(C)persecutions, in ^(D)difficulties, ^(E)in behalf of Christ; for ^(F)when I am weak, then I am strong.

⁷ for this reason, brothers and sisters, in all our distress and affliction we were comforted about you through your faith;

²⁷ Pure and undefiled religion ^(A)in the sight of our God and Father is this: to ^(B)visit ^(C)orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained ^[a]by ^(D)the world.
