⁹ There will be affliction and distress for everyone who does evil, both the Jew first and the Greek,^(A)

¹⁷ For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God; if it begins with us, what will be the end for those who do not obey the gospel of God?^(A)

The Power of the Gospel

¹⁶ For I am not ashamed of the gospel; it is God’s saving power for everyone who believes,^[a] for the Jew first and also for the Greek.^(A)

⁴ Know that all lives are mine; the life of the parent as well as the life of the child is mine: it is only the person who sins who shall die.^(A)

⁶ For it is indeed just of God to repay with affliction those who afflict you

One in Christ

¹¹ So then, remember that at one time you gentiles by birth,^[a] called “the uncircumcision” by those who are called “the circumcision”—a circumcision made in the flesh by human hands^(A)— ¹² remember that you were at that time without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.^{(B) 13} But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.^{(C) 14} For he is our peace; in his flesh he has made both into one and has broken down the dividing wall, that is, the hostility between us,^{(D) 15} abolishing the law with its commandments and ordinances, that he might create in himself one new humanity in place of the two, thus making peace,^{(E) 16} and might reconcile both to God in one body^[b] through the cross, thus putting to death that hostility through it.^{[c](F) 17} So he came and proclaimed peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near,

⁸ For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the circumcised on behalf of the truth of God in order that he might confirm the promises given to the ancestors^{(A) 9} and that the gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written,

²⁴ including us whom he has called, not from the Jews only but also from the gentiles?

²⁹ Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of gentiles also? Yes, of gentiles also, ³⁰ since God is one, and he will justify the circumcised on the ground of faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith.^(A)

¹⁰ but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, both the Jew first and the Greek.
