⁴ For ^(A)whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

⁴ but in everything ^(A)commending ourselves as ^[a](B)servants of God, ^(C)in much endurance, in afflictions, in hardships, in difficulties,

^11 (A)strengthened with all power, according to ^[a]His glorious might, ^[b]for the attaining of all perseverance and ^[c]patience; ^(B)joyously

³⁶ For you have need of ^(A)endurance, so that when you have ^(B)done the will of God, you may ^(C)receive ^[a]what was promised.

12 Therefore, since we also have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let’s ^(A)rid ourselves of every obstacle and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s ^(B)run with ^(C)endurance the race that is set before us,
