¹³ Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness,^(A) not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.^(B)

²¹ and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like.^(A) I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.^(B)

¹⁸ Do not get drunk on wine,^(A) which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit,^(B)

¹² so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders^(A) and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.

⁶ Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.^(A)

³ It is God’s will^(A) that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality;^{(B) 4} that each of you should learn to control your own body^[a](C) in a way that is holy and honorable, ⁵ not in passionate lust^(D) like the pagans,^(E) who do not know God;^(F)

¹⁵ Be very careful, then, how you live^(A)—not as unwise but as wise,

³ For you have spent enough time in the past^(A) doing what pagans choose to do—living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry.^{(B) 4} They are surprised that you do not join them in their reckless, wild living, and they heap abuse on you.^{(C) 5} But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.^(D)

¹² encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy^(A) of God, who calls^(B) you into his kingdom and glory.
