14 (A)Bless those who persecute [a]you; bless, and do not curse. 15 (B)Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep, 16 by (C)being of the same mind toward one another, (D)not being haughty in mind, but [b]associating with the humble. (E)Do not be wise in your own mind. 17 (F)Never paying back evil for evil to anyone, [c](G)respecting what is good in the sight of all men, 18 if possible, (H)so far as it depends on you, (I)being at peace with all men, 19 (J)never taking your own revenge, beloved—instead [d]leave room for the wrath of God. For it is written, “(K)Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 (L)But if your enemy is hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

14 Bless people who harass you—bless and don’t curse them. 15 Be happy with those who are happy, and cry with those who are crying. 16 Consider everyone as equal, and don’t think that you’re better than anyone else. Instead, associate with people who have no status. Don’t think that you’re so smart. 17 Don’t pay back anyone for their evil actions with evil actions, but show respect for what everyone else believes is good.

18 If possible, to the best of your ability, live at peace with all people. 19 Don’t try to get revenge for yourselves, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath. It is written, Revenge belongs to me; I will pay it back, says the Lord.[a] 20 Instead, If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink. By doing this, you will pile burning coals of fire upon his head.[b] 21 Don’t be defeated by evil, but defeat evil with good.
