A Living Sacrifice
12 Therefore, I urge you,(A) brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice,(B) holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform(C) to the pattern of this world,(D) but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.(E) Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is(F)—his good, pleasing(G) and perfect will.
Humble Service in the Body of Christ
3 For by the grace given me(H) I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. 4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,(I) 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body,(J) and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts,(K) according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying,(L) then prophesy in accordance with your[a] faith;(M) 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach;(N) 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement;(O) if it is giving, then give generously;(P) if it is to lead,[b] do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
Love in Action
9 Love must be sincere.(Q) Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.(R) 10 Be devoted to one another in love.(S) Honor one another above yourselves.(T) 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor,(U) serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope,(V) patient in affliction,(W) faithful in prayer.(X) 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need.(Y) Practice hospitality.(Z)
14 Bless those who persecute you;(AA) bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.(AB) 16 Live in harmony with one another.(AC) Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position.[c] Do not be conceited.(AD)
17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil.(AE) Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone.(AF) 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.(AG) 19 Do not take revenge,(AH) my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”[d](AI) says the Lord. 20 On the contrary:
“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”[e](AJ)
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

12 그러므로 형제자매 여러분, 하나님께서 여러분에게 자비를 보이셨으니 저는 여러분에게 호소합니다. 여러분의 몸을 거룩하고 하나님께서 기뻐하실 산 제물로 바치십시오. 이것이 여러분이 드릴 영적 예배입니다. 2 더는 이 세상의 풍조에 따라 살지 마십시오. 여러분의 마음을 새롭게 하여 변화를 받으십시오. 그러면 무엇이 하나님의 선하시고 기뻐하시고 완전하신 뜻인지를 가려낼 수 있을 것입니다.
3 하나님께서 내게 주신 특별한 은혜에 힘입어 여러분 한 사람 한 사람에게 말합니다. 여러분은 자신을 실제 이상으로 중요한 사람으로 생각하지 마십시오. 하나님께서 여러분 각자에게 나누어주신 각기 다른 믿음의 몫에 따라서, 자신을 있는 그대로 생각하십시오. 4 우리의 몸은 하나이지만 여러 부분으로 이루어져 있습니다. 그리고 모든 부분이 꼭 같은 기능을 가지고 있지는 않습니다. 5 마찬가지로 우리는 여러 사람이지만 그리스도 안에서 한 몸을 이룹니다. 우리는 각기 그 몸의 부분들입니다. 그리고 각 부분은 다른 모든 부분에 연결되어 있습니다. 6 하나님께서 우리에게 주신 은혜에 따라, 우리는 저마다 다른 선물을 받아 가지고 있습니다. 어떤 사람이 받은 선물이 예언[a]의 능력이면 자신의 믿음의 정도에 맞게 예언하십시오. 7 섬기는 능력이면 섬기십시오. 가르치는 능력이면 가르치십시오. 8 격려하는 능력이면 격려하십시오. 베푸는 능력이면 넉넉하게 베푸십시오. 지도하는 능력이면 부지런히 다스리십시오. 자비를 베푸는 능력이면 기쁜 마음으로 자비를 베푸십시오.
9 사랑에는 거짓이 없어야 합니다. 악을 미워하고 선의 편에 서십시오. 10 서로를 형제자매처럼 극진히 사랑하십시오. 자신보다 서로를 존중하십시오. 11 여러분에게 맡겨진 일을 게을리 하는 일이 없어야 합니다. 언제나 영적인 열정을 가지고 주님을 섬기십시오. 12 여러분에게 희망이 있으니 즐겁게 생활하십시오. 고통 속에서도 참고 견디며, 기도하기를 멈추지 마십시오. 13 어려운 처지에 있는 성도들과 가진 것을 나누십시오. 나그네를 잘 대접하십시오.
14 여러분을 박해하는 사람들에게 복을 빌어 주십시오. 그들을 축복하고, 저주하지 마십시오. 15 기뻐하는 사람들과 함께 기뻐하고, 우는 사람들과 함께 우십시오. 16 서로 같은 마음을 가지고 살아가십시오. 교만하지 말고, 사회적으로 낮은 지위에 있는 사람들과 기꺼이 사귀십시오. 우쭐대지 마십시오.
17 누구에게도 악을 악으로 갚지 마십시오. 조심하여 모든 사람의 눈에 바르게 보이는 일을 하십시오. 18 여러분 쪽에서 할 수 있는 데까지는 모든 사람과 화평하게 지내십시오. 19 사랑하는 여러분, 여러분은 스스로 원수를 갚지 말고, 하나님의 진노에 맡기십시오. 성경에도 이렇게 쓰여 있습니다. “주께서 말씀하신다. ‘원수 갚는 일은 내가 할 일이니, 내가 갚아 줄 것이다.’”(A) 20 오히려
