¹⁸ If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.^{(A) 19} Do not take revenge,^(B) my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”^[a](C) says the Lord. ²⁰ On the contrary:

²¹ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

⁵⁰ “Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again?^(A) Have salt among yourselves,^(B) and be at peace with each other.”^(C)

²³ “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, ²⁴ leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.
