Romans 11:7-10

7 What then? (A)Israel failed to obtain what it was seeking. The elect obtained it, but the rest (B)were hardened, 8 as it is written,
(C)“God gave them a spirit of stupor,
(D)eyes that would not see
and ears that would not hear,
down to this very day.”
9 And David says,
(E)“Let their table become a snare and a trap,
a stumbling block and a retribution for them;
10 let their eyes be darkened so that they cannot see,
and bend their backs forever.”

7 What then? Israel did not find what it was looking for,(A) but the elect did find it. The rest were hardened,(B) 8 as it is written:
God gave them a spirit of insensitivity,[a]
eyes that cannot see
and ears that cannot hear,
to this day.(C)[b]
9 And David says:
Let their feasting[c] become a snare and a trap,
a pitfall and a retribution to them.
10 Let their eyes be darkened so they cannot see,
and their backs be bent continually.(D)[d]
