Romans 10:18-21

New International Version

¹⁸But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did:

“Their voice has gone out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.”^[a]^(A)

¹⁹Again I ask: Did Israel not understand? First, Moses says,

“I will make you envious^(B) by those who are not a nation;
I will make you angry by a nation that has no understanding.”^[b]^(C)

²⁰And Isaiah boldly says,

“I was found by those who did not seek me;
I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me.”^[c]^(D)

²¹But concerning Israel he says,

“All day long I have held out my hands
to a disobedient and obstinate people.”^[d]^(E)

¹⁸But I ask, have the people of Israel actually heard the message? Yes, they have:

“The message has gone throughout the earth,
and the words to all the world.”^[a]

¹⁹But I ask, did the people of Israel really understand? Yes, they did, for even in the time of Moses, God said,

“I will rouse your jealousy through people who are not even a nation.
I will provoke your anger through the foolish Gentiles.”^[b]

²⁰And later Isaiah spoke boldly for God, saying,

“I was found by people who were not looking for me.
I showed myself to those who were not asking for me.”^[c]

²¹But regarding Israel, God said,

“All day long I opened my arms to them,
but they were disobedient and rebellious.”^[d]
