Israel’s Rejection of the Message

14 How, then, can they call on him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about him?(A) And how can they hear without a preacher?(B) 15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful[a] are the feet of those who bring good news.[b](C) 16 But not all obeyed the gospel.(D) For Isaiah says, Lord, who has believed our message?[c](E) 17 So faith comes from what is heard,(F) and what is heard comes through the message about Christ.[d](G)

14 So how can they call on someone they don’t have faith in? And how can they have faith in someone they haven’t heard of? And how can they hear without a preacher? 15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of those who announce the good news.[a]

16 But everyone hasn’t obeyed the good news. As Isaiah says, Lord, who has had faith in our message?[b] 17 So, faith comes from listening, but it’s listening by means of Christ’s message.
