²²Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools^(A)

³When I consider your heavens,^(A)
    the work of your fingers,^(B)
the moon and the stars,^(C)
    which you have set in place,
⁴what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
    human beings that you care for them?^[a]^(D)

⁵You have made them^[b] a little lower than the angels^[c]^(E)
    and crowned them^[d] with glory and honor.^(F)
⁶You made them rulers^(G) over the works of your hands;^(H)
    you put everything under their^[e] feet:^(I)
⁷all flocks and herds,^(J)
    and the animals of the wild,^(K)
⁸the birds in the sky,
    and the fish in the sea,^(L)
    all that swim the paths of the seas.

⁹Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!^(M)

²⁰And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures,^(A) and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.”^(B) ²¹So God created^(C) the great creatures of the sea^(D) and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it,^(E) according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind.^(F) And God saw that it was good.^(G) ²²God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.”^(H) ²³And there was evening, and there was morning^(I)—the fifth day.

²⁴And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures^(J) according to their kinds:^(K) the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so.^(L) ²⁵God made the wild animals^(M) according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds.^(N) And God saw that it was good.^(O)
