8 This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but (A)the children of the promise are counted as offspring. 9 For this is what the promise said: (B)“About this time next year I will return, and Sarah shall have a son.”

8 In other words, it is not the children by physical descent who are God’s children,(A) but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring.(B) 9 For this was how the promise was stated: “At the appointed time I will return, and Sarah will have a son.”[a](C)
