Romans 7:13-14
Holman Christian Standard Bible
The Problem of Sin in Us
13 Therefore, did what is good cause my death?[a] Absolutely not!(A) On the contrary, sin, in order to be recognized as sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that through the commandment, sin might become sinful beyond measure. 14 For we know that the law is spiritual,(B) but I am made out of flesh,[b] sold(C) into sin’s power.(D)

Internal Conflict with Sin
13 Therefore, did that which is good become death to me? May it never be! Rather it was sin, in order that it might be recognized as sin, producing death through what is good for me, in order that sin might become sinful to an extraordinary degree through the commandment. 14 For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am fleshly, sold into slavery to sin[a].

New International Version
13 Did that which is good, then, become death to me? By no means! Nevertheless, in order that sin might be recognized as sin, it used what is good(A) to bring about my death,(B) so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful.
14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual,(C) sold(D) as a slave to sin.(E)
