17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart (A)that form of doctrine to which you were [a]delivered. 18 And (B)having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. 19 I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness [b]for holiness.

17 But thanks be to God(A) that, though you used to be slaves to sin,(B) you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching(C) that has now claimed your allegiance. 18 You have been set free from sin(D) and have become slaves to righteousness.(E)
19 I am using an example from everyday life(F) because of your human limitations. Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness(G) leading to holiness.
