¹⁶ Do you not ^(A)know that when you present yourselves to someone as ^(B)slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of ^(C)sin ^[a]resulting in death, or of obedience ^[b]resulting in righteousness?

^19 (A)I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just ^(B)as you presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, ^[a]resulting in further lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness, ^[b]resulting in sanctification.

⁵ For while we were ^(A)in the flesh, the sinful passions, which were ^(B)aroused by the Law, were at work ^(C)in ^[a]the members of our body to bear fruit for death.

^5 (A)Therefore ^[a]consider ^(B)the members of your earthly body as dead to ^[b](C)immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which ^[c]amounts to idolatry.
